the ABC/ESPN deal isn't technically finalized either if we being truthful.

the wording is "essentially come to a deal" meaning the details and main sticking points were obviously hammered out during the exclusive negotiating period.

what WBD was doing during that time? I don't know.

In a weird way, it would be beneficial for Comcast to allow TNT to keep an NBA package. Unless Comcast just doesn’t give a shyt about selling cable anymore they need live sports to be on cable in order to sell subscriptions.

If the NBA leaves TNT and then NBA/MLB leaves the RSNs that will lead to the complete collapse of cable and therefore a large part of Comcast’s revenue.

Now that I can’t see the Braves on cable I’m seriously thinking about cancelling Comcast.
or Comcast is driving WBD’s stock price down by taking the NBA from them which will result in WB being sold again and Comcast waiting to buy them.

NOPE THEY LET THE EXCLUSIVE PERIOD
EXPIRE AND HAD THE RIGHT TO MATCH
LIKE A RESTRICTED FREE AGENT.

INSTEAD OF BIDDING AGAINST THEMSELVES
GO OUT AND SEE WHAT YOU CAN
GET IN THE OPEN MARKET.

NBC CAME WITH 2.5 BILLION
AND ESPN CAME BACK WITH 2.6 BILLION.

SIMPLE

NBC is worth $30 billion.

Disney is worth $193 billion.

I think we know where this is going :francis:

It's pretty clear that's what Comcast wants to do...landing more live sports and a couple years later getting WB's library (Looney Tunes, DC Comics, Game of Thrones, etc)

Paperwork ain’t signed . I’m undercutting ESPN if I’m Amazon and offer 3 bill a year! Until the paperwork signed fukk a gentleman agreement, I’m pulling a Carlos Boozer on Mickey Mouse :lolbron:

WE DONT KNOW THE TERMS OF THE MATCH CLAUSE.

WHEN A NBA TEAM OFFERS A RFA A DEAL
THEY CANT COME BACK AND OFFER MORE
AFTER OG TEAM MATCHES...

ESPN/WB MAY HAVE THE SAME ARRANGEMENT
BECAUSE I FEEL NBC WOULD HAVE RAISED
THEIR 2.5 B TO 3 B FOR THE MAIN PACKAGE
INSTEAD OF PAYING MAIN PACKAGE PRICE
FOR THE SECONDARY PACKAGE.

The issue for WBD is the rights are going up significantly and the package they would be getting is way smaller than what they have now
They have matching rights too iirc
They might do it out of desperation

They really have no choice.

Max is gonna raise their price 100%
More scripted shows getting canned
They’ll add more cheap reality shows too

James Gunn better deliver as well

But man they are fukked if they choose not to match.

:patrice: :jbhmm: this Comcast/WBD merger whispers won’t go away despite how difficult a transaction that would be under Biden admin. I think this will play a factor one way or another.

Zaslav was trying to see if Paramount was cool with their respective companies merging into one and Paramount turned his ass down. I doubt we'll see a Comcast/WBD merger even if wall street do everything in their power to try and make it happened, the block is too hot with all these mergers lately.
