Good reviews are still good.
I wish he did 150k or better but that's just the sign of the times. I still think he's a popular MC as indicated by the fact that he's always in demand for touring.

BSID came out 3 years ago breh. A more realistic comparison would be to compare to Untitled first week's sales which sold higher a year prior.
If we wanna compare look at both now...Nas looks like he's only going to do 125k...but 50 cent can't even get his label to release the album.

So this is how we rationalize things now? Can we go back and factor in bootleg tape sales and dubs from 1990 as well. I just know Brand Nubian was platinum in the hood!

Biggest first week for a Hip Hop album- 253,000
Highest selling album released in 2012- Lionel Richie's Tuskeegee @ 912,000 w/ 199K sold in week 1.
Nas doing 115K-125K isn't bad considering it's on par w/ Usher and Chris Brown's sales who have had at least two charting singles. Chris Brown and Usher also had Top 10 singles. What's important is whether the album consistently sells after. This year has had some historical second week drop offs.
It was far fetched for Nas to do 200K first week in 2012. That's like selling 350-400K first week last year. For whatever reason, this year has had very low debuts even from some of the bigger artists. I can only think of a couple of artists who dropped this year that matched or exceeded the first week of previous releases. Even then, they still experienced huge drop offs.

you have to put it in perspective, how many dudes that dropped in 94 are seeing 100k first week now? alot of people with bigger nationwide hits are doing those type of numbers or less so its not bad considering
