That's true nas is an album guy. I guess I mean the bigger the singles the more it will drive streams to his page.Well it is and it isn’t.
Nas hasn’t been a “singles” artist since 99. Yes One Mic, Made You Look, and I can were hits but they didn’t drive sales in the manner a smash hit single in the streaming era would. Nas is an ALBUM artist, people are checking his full body of work. As I stated earlier, Nas’s physical sales outsold a Beyonce/Lion King tandem! Thats incredible! Nas’s older fanbase is obviously still with him, I bet he made a nice chunk of change off the Merch he bundled. The trick is how to get the fans who only care about physical to want to stream. This could be accomplished in a few ways
1). Bonus tracks for streaming only platforms. Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, etc.
2). Contest/Prizes. For example make it a fun challenge for fans. Say if Nas does “X and Y amount of streams. He’ll perform an exclusive concert at such and such” or “he’ll release a video for such and such track”
Back then nikkas copped albums based off hit singles so even back then singles drove album sales. Coincidentally Nas album sales dropped once he stopped having popular singles in 2002.Well it is and it isn’t.

Really at this point it's so many ways to hear music. Streaming services YouTube etc physical bundles. Honestly who knows what is it. The project is dope so that's all fans can ask for.Back then nikkas copped albums based off hit singles so even back then singles drove album sales. Nas older fanbase is with him but he needs to find a way to connect with the younger fans and streaming age
The album will fall off the charts and won’t keep having those slow burn sales no point in propping up physicals in 2019 or talking about how he slightly outsold some movie album in physical sales
Right on for this @Ziggiy beautiful thing about the Lost Tapes projects are that they naturally cause you to revisit previously released projects and see how the Lost Tapes songs recorded at the same time fit sonically and thematically within the context of those albums. LIG is pretty fukking tough. Took some shyt off that I didn’t really like too much and replaced them with Lost Freestyle, It Never Ends, and Beautiful Life.Vernon Family/You Mean The World To Me (Hip Hop Is Dead)
Who Are You/Queens Wolf/War Against Love (Untitled)
Lost Freestyle/Royalty/It Never Ends/Beautiful Life (Life Is Good)
The Art Of It (Lost Tapes 2 exclusive)
No Bad Energy/Tanasia/Adult Film/Highly Favored/Jarreau Of Rap/Queensbridge Politics (Album before Nasir)
Hold Down The Block is one of the top tracks on the that albumVernon Family should have DEFINITELY been on Hip Hop Is Dead. It should have replaced You Can’t Kill Me. Would have easily lifted that album from a solid 4 mics to 4.5....
Also if you take out Hold Down The Block and add Where Ya’ll At then we are talking debatable top
5 in his catalogue
