Looking at the chart numbers Nas actually OUTSOLD Beyonce’s Gift Album in physical sales (12,489 Vs 12,145) which is phenomenal seeing as physical copies were only available via his website. Of course streaming is King now, so he got outsold via streaming and Track Equivalent (single song) sales.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NAS! TWENTY FIVE YEARS IN THE GAME WITH THIRTEENTH STRAIGHT TOP TEN BILLBOARD DEBUT:salute:

Love the symbolism that "The Lost Tapes" hit Top 10 in 2002 and "The Lost Tapes 2" Hit Top 10 over 17 years later. Mind you NaS just had a top 5 LP last year. So again not many honestly can say from NaS's era they are still going Top 10 this many years later. Off "Old" songs at that. Plus this shows you NaS fans SPEND on his body of work. All this chart shows me is what I've known for for years that streaming is inflating a lot of these artist numbers. People aren't "Buying" music as much as they are temporarily renting it on these streaming platforms. But Congrats to NaS, the numbers are just fine for a compilation because a majority of NaS's fanbase is from Pre-Streaming era.

but he already used the verse from that song... i'm pretty sure track was gutted

Why would he gut that song? Nas has several songs that have the same lines. Some of these songs are on studio albums. I mean, the "you ain't mean to murk him, your gun's a virgin" appears back to back on "Queen's Story" and "Accident Murder" on the same album.

Dope! I think in the streaming era it will be important to have a single or singles that stream heavily. Especially on his next official album release. It sounds like he has some bangers/hits in the stash so we will see.

Aside from Nas having the Serious joint and the jay z joint on the stash, we don’t hear too much about him having feature in the vaults. In the the old Sony days there were lots with the bravehearts of other queens nikkas.

Well it is and it isn’t.

Nas hasn’t been a “singles” artist since 99. Yes One Mic, Made You Look, and I can were hits but they didn’t drive sales in the manner a smash hit single in the streaming era would. Nas is an ALBUM artist, people are checking his full body of work. As I stated earlier, Nas’s physical sales outsold a Beyonce/Lion King tandem! Thats incredible! Nas’s older fanbase is obviously still with him, I bet he made a nice chunk of change off the Merch he bundled. The trick is how to get the fans who only care about physical to want to stream. This could be accomplished in a few ways

1). Bonus tracks for streaming only platforms. Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, etc.

2). Contest/Prizes. For example make it a fun challenge for fans. Say if Nas does “X and Y amount of streams. He’ll perform an exclusive concert at such and such” or “he’ll release a video for such and such track”

That
AZ said there was no more music, but that was BEFORE him and Nas hooked up for the Life Is Good sessions

That’s what I’m talkin about. I don’t have his exact quote but he just made it seem like his next lost tapes will be all features. If this is true and we only know of the AZ one and the Jay Z one, in the Def Jam era, he has to have nearly an album worth of that work safe in the stash.

That's true nas is an album guy. I guess I mean the bigger the singles the more it will drive streams to his page.

It will never not baffle me when Stans treat their own favourites music like fast food.

Speculate about the next Lost Tape after the one you been speculating for the last 10+ years just come out brehs

Must be exhausting yall

...it's a good album, let it marinate for a minute. It's healthier that way
