this a classic to me... nasir was garbage to me
GOSPELI don't think it's fukked up. It's the truth.
I wasn't old enough to experience a lot of Nas' albums firsthand, but based off everything I've read here, The Lost Tapes 2 should have been like a dream for the skeptics and critics. Nas has classic, Cuban Linx-era production from RZA and it's not enough. He has not one, but two beats from Pete Rock, someone who hasn't had a placement on a Nas album in 25 years. Not good enough. He has Alchemist production on here, some great work from Swizz, a damn Kanye beat from his prime years. It's like an all-star game full of producers and for some people, it's just not good enough.
The same thing happened with Michael Jackson. For years, he was looked at as a joke and a child molester and a weirdo. Then he died, and people suddenly remembered that he was the greatest entertainer to ever live. He was only given back all the roses people took from him when it was no longer possible to kick him around. Leaving Neverland tried to take the roses again, but in a few years, something will happen and Michael will go back to being adored and appreciated again.
When Nas dies, everyone's going to talk about how incredible his catalogue was. They'll talk about how people always ignore his work after Illmatic. They'll talk about how much of a genius he was when it came to experimentation, how Untitled was ahead of its time, how he influenced an entire generation of rappers, and they'll even try making a case for his lesser albums. They'll also make sure he's known as the greatest rapper of all-time.
It won't be enough until he's no longer around. And when that day comes, we can all laugh because everything I said is what we already know. It will just take something drastic for certain people to know it too.
shyt is excellent...but it's unfinished. He has to give us a 3rd verse and wrap the story up, it can't just be an introduction and a climax and that's it. Nas is too good of a writer to write a story without a Resolution of some sort to conclude, shyt is Screenwriting 101. That's why I said a lot of this album sounds like it's fresh off the cutting room floor, lot of unfinished joints. Idk why he didn't just touch them up to make em complete before putting the album out.
I went on the Wiki for the album
So far it has good reviews y'all looking at the haters too much
Nas delivered a great project for his core fans
