I dont see how Alchemist dropped the ball.

I love the content of Royalty, cant get jiggy with it as a full package. Queens Wolf needed to be fleshed out and War Against Love could have been a bit more. But it's a fantastic collection and ended brilliantly

He really speaks to us divorced brehs. I love LIG but they could have used some tracks here. I got married the week LIG came out and ended up going through hell in 2013 through early 2015, so I view that album as a foreboding warning to me. Now I have a beautiful baby boy that turned one with another woman and hearing the last track really brought me back through the journey I've made in 7 years.

I don't think it's fukked up. It's the truth.

I wasn't old enough to experience a lot of Nas' albums firsthand, but based off everything I've read here, The Lost Tapes 2 should have been like a dream for the skeptics and critics. Nas has classic, Cuban Linx-era production from RZA and it's not enough. He has not one, but two beats from Pete Rock, someone who hasn't had a placement on a Nas album in 25 years. Not good enough. He has Alchemist production on here, some great work from Swizz, a damn Kanye beat from his prime years. It's like an all-star game full of producers and for some people, it's just not good enough.

The same thing happened with Michael Jackson. For years, he was looked at as a joke and a child molester and a weirdo. Then he died, and people suddenly remembered that he was the greatest entertainer to ever live. He was only given back all the roses people took from him when it was no longer possible to kick him around. Leaving Neverland tried to take the roses again, but in a few years, something will happen and Michael will go back to being adored and appreciated again.

When Nas dies, everyone's going to talk about how incredible his catalogue was. They'll talk about how people always ignore his work after Illmatic. They'll talk about how much of a genius he was when it came to experimentation, how Untitled was ahead of its time, how he influenced an entire generation of rappers, and they'll even try making a case for his lesser albums. They'll also make sure he's known as the greatest rapper of all-time.

It won't be enough until he's no longer around. And when that day comes, we can all laugh because everything I said is what we already know. It will just take something drastic for certain people to know it too. :francis:

shyt is excellent...but it's unfinished. He has to give us a 3rd verse and wrap the story up, it can't just be an introduction and a climax and that's it. Nas is too good of a writer to write a story without a Resolution of some sort to conclude, shyt is Screenwriting 101. That's why I said a lot of this album sounds like it's fresh off the cutting room floor, lot of unfinished joints. Idk why he didn't just touch them up to make em complete before putting the album out.

See I disagree.. I thought it was perfect.
First verse the build up to him transforming
to the Wolf. The 2nd verse him waking up not remembering what happened
and his boys telling him how he wyled out
after becoming the Wolf, than he finishes
the verse off some that's not really me
I'm on the laid back cool tip, than he's about to
transform again as the moon lits.. Naw I don't need
anymore than that. Along with how the chorus went it
was just enough, not overdid to make the concept corny.
Perfect song.. Just my opinion.

East Side!
I have a different song stuck in my head throughout the day, even songs I didn't like off the first few listens have all grown on me (except Who Are You). Woke up with Adult Film chorus in my head, then had Royalty hook playing over and over in my head in the afternoon. The beat to Queens Wolf popped in my head throughout the day, Art of It was stuck in my head at the gym. The entire evening has been It Never Ends. Truly a classic IMO.

This just gets me more excited about the new album. Nas is excellent at just rapping about whatever and in a lot of these songs, he does just that. The stuff that makes the actual real albums are more focused but that is a real skill to still be able to be entertaining, and witting while be all over with place with the content in many of the songs.
