Nas really got 5 classics. Name which other rapper that got 5 classic rap albums. Honestly.

There isnt any wack songs on there tho
There's tracks in the last 5 that either don't fit or there forgettable/wack. There's tracks in some parts of the album that just don't cut it no more. Not saying it's bad just saying that it isn't a classic.

It's not perfect and there are wack songs. Classics don't have wack songs.....

Blueprint had that nikka jigga
All Eyez on me had whats ya phone number (and a lot of filler on disc 2)
Life after Death had Playa Hata and Another

It can definetly happen on classics. Thats why I dont believe an album has to be flawless to be a classic. Did it have impact on the scene and the artists career and have enough good songs.

Every double disc has filler and those albums are still much better then stillmatic. Are those albums Better then illmatic? Na. Stillmatic isn't on that level. Stillmatics still respectable as an album but there's no way it's a classic.

Exactly. A classic album should meet certain criteria. Two big ones for me:

-perfect or nearly perfect
-influenced the genre or music

God's Son is an inconsistent album that was met with mixed reception. Those are facts. There are multiple questionable beats and songs on there. If God's Son is classic your criteria for classic is too low...

Stillmatic is dope but the only reason people claim it's classic is due to stan wars. I know because I used to argue it was classic at school while endlessly debating Hov stans. But come on. The Blueprint is a classic with no bad songs, clearly influenced the genre and had an impact. Stillmatic was a return to form for Nas and a comeback but that speaks moreso to how weak his previous album was.

God's Son is a 3/5 type album. I'll give it a 3.5 since I'm a stan. Stillmatic is a 4/5 or 4.5/5

You said classics dont have wack songs though, not whether they are better or worse.
You can be a classic album and have filler songs, long as the overall product had impact on the artists career.

Stillmatic has major flaws tho ur better off saying it's a personal classic. Just like the fix shyt used to feel like a classic but I don't think it's a classic at all now.

So you agree Stillmatic is a classic too?
:ehh:
Cool

Also whats this mixed reception for God Son, it made it on plenty of best of year lists that year and mostly rated high (81% metacritic). Sure I saw a couple of so so reviews but for the most part the reception was like 4/5. It may have gotten some revisionist hate cause 9th remixed God Stepson so well but its a well recieved Nas album generally speaking

Its an album that introduced another generation of fans to Nas, its a classic. Especially if we're gonna start giving other people like 5 or 6 classics. And Fix is a classic too.

Better off saying its not a classic personally to you:yeshrug:

There's not many rappers that even have two classics period lol to the point where the album really held up.

Thats fine if thats your criteria, I got no problem with that. If you honestly believe a classic has to be 5/5 I can respect that

I dont tend to look at the criteria of 5 mics as only classic cause I dont think it happens in other genres either, I just personally think thats how it works. If you got multiple albums people need to go back and study on to see a person career trajectory I tend to consider it a classic :manny:
