Nas really got 5 classics. Name which other rapper that got 5 classic rap albums. Honestly.

Below the Heavens was critically acclaimed and was influential in the hip-hop community, and I'd still call it an underground classic.

I've never heard of "A Piece of Strange".

How can you call an album that nobody knows about a "classic". I love Roc Marciano's "Reloaded" but it's underground classic at best. Just doesn't have that overall appeal.
I think both BTH and Reloaded made enough noise to qualify.

I have a very low bar though.

Overall appeal to me means casual fans.

It's harder to gauge now that the game is so disjointed.

Fukk it I’m going to say this cuz I never heard no one say this. People always talk about RD not being a classic when it was released. But being a 13 year old kid I clearly remember IWW getting shyt on big time. Tbh I don’t even remember when IWW was deemed a classic. Even on takeover people didn’t think Jay was out of line with the “ugh” line in regards to that album. It’s like Jay bought that album attention and made people re-listened to IWW. When people gave it another shot majority of fans realized they were wrong
People say this all the time. :prodigylol:
IWW was widely hailed as an amazing album, but there were definitely complaints about the production and change of focus in subject matter.

It's biggest problem was that it was the follow up to Illmatic :yeshrug:
And it's not as good as Illmatic.

I get wat u saying. But only a small minority in 2001 would call IWW a classic and a even smaller pct would have said IWW was better than illmatic. But as time passed IWW got the Love it deserved imo
This is true. Both this album and RD were correctly revised to classics.

Scarface is like the Paul Mooney of rap. Meaning he wont fully get the respect he deserves until he dies.
Mr. Scarface is back
The diary
The fix
The untouchable
Made
The last of a dying breed(possible)

I think Pac had a good run with Thug life, MATW, AEOM, Makaveli,

So did early cube but even though his content was hitting, some of the earlier albums didn't age well BUT Death Certificate is one of the greatest and most important albums ever released in the genre.

As far as the OP with Nas, it's all subjective but Stillmatic had too many fillers like My country, the track with Amerie and few others. I thought lost tapes was good but it's just a compilation of tracks, not a cohesive album and there were a couple that were just ok. God's Son aged well to me, been jammin' it a lot lately and nas is my favorite.
Scarface has a lot of great albums. One cemented classic.

Thug Life is not a classic.

Cube's early shyt aged gracefully.

I love Rule

I got Nas at 4. KRS-One at 5. Pac at 4. K-Rino at 9. Think those are the highest I got in terms of classics, would agree Nas got some of the most, but mine may be different picks than others, my Nas ones are Illmatic, Stillmatic, God's Son and Distant Relatives, think he's got some other great albums too that are close but may just miss classic to me.

Stillmatic is not a classic. There's classic songs obviously but there's some average to a couple trash songs too. 3-3.5 /5 at best. This album was better wen it came out 30-35% of it isn't replayable no more. Destroy and rebuild ain't shyt to thun and kicko as well so even if it was ight it's automatically scrapped to me. I don't even listen to what goes around that to me is gunits song they made that joint hot. Blueprint came out same time and was better. Nas ethered jay tho.
Gods son is not a classic at all :comeon:
& while lost tapes is good that shyt ain't no classic either

Mobb deep has two classics in the top 5-10. Infamous is number 1 to me and hell on earth is number 5.
And murda muzik if u count the bootleg is better then iww.

Stillmatic is a classic bruh this is the only site where i hear people say it isnt a classic
