so.... yo the more i think about it..... the more I think
Joe Black is a response to Freddie Gibbs.

Run me the keys, run me the Bs, run me that flow back (nas is hiting a rapid fire flow that gibbs normally uses)
Your top three, I'm not number one, how could you post that? (Gibbs was throwing shade at Nas saying he wasnt the goat on twitter.)
I wear the crown, the city is mine, you cannot hold that (gibbs was doing interviews saying he is gunning for Nas & that Nas cant rap better than him in 2021.)
I'm not the one to go at, you fukk around, meet Joe Black (definitely giving a warning for any one who dares violate.)
Run me the keys, run me the Bs, run me that flow back (What I'm sayin')

Nas took it easy on the collabo they dropped last year so gibb's was feeling maybe he at Nas neck now barwise. :mjlol:

Gibbs also tried to body the "YOUR THE Man" beat. :ohhh:

Gibbs did a whole PR campaign lightly going at NaS neck... respectfully enough to not get ethered but real enough for Nas to drop Meet Joe Black.:dame:

What do y'all think? :sas1:

Nas giving Gibbs multiple chin checks on Joe Black in my mind at least.

Yes, it is definitely at Gibbs. I still like that Gibbs is trying to compete with Nas. I feel like they all should chase their goats. Gibbs going at Nas to me means he sees Nas as the goat. As long as he doesn’t disrespect.

I agree. I do think there are some small lines like the Gibbs "tell nikkaz not losing sleep, tell em I'm sleeping on em" line

I also think on j coles hunger on hillside he says "big stepper don't get stepped on"

Nas on ugly says "you're not a stepper just step to the side, while I two step on the beat watch a veteran slide" ‍♂️

It seems that HitBoy doesn’t have as tough skin as Nas does when it comes to critics n shyt. I wonder how that’s gonna effect the music. He gonna learn soon enough what it feels like to ride wit Nas as the critics and even Nas’ own fans can be Nas’ worst enemy. And anyone around him who ain’t the Illmatic producers can get it.

Interesting point I never thought about. Imagine having every noteworthy producer you fukk with (Timbo, Swizz, Just Blaze, Bo1da, Kanye, etc) telling you that this shyt is fire and then seeing a bad/meh review or some old heads criticizing you. And you can def tell from the last two albums that he's been studying Nas albums/eras, trying to give him an update version of those sounds. Shout outs to DJ Premier for embracing it because you can tell a lot of these other dudes are just gonna be mad forever. And I'm glad Nas keeps his foot on their necks by making it clear he moved on from old styles and is onto new shyt.

Personally I think Hit Boy will only get better. The Kanye shyt is good news too IMO, in the sense that he's got an avenue to return to having big records, radio shyt, etc. The guys he's been working with (Dom, Sean, Nas, now Snoop, Benny, etc) aren't gonna have hits today. Getting that shyt off with Kanye and whatever other big artists follow is only gonna help him expand his sounds for Nas and others.

As much as I love Magic I hope they stick with the more modern diverse sound for KD3. They hit it out the park with KD2. I feel like KD2 might be one of Nas greatest albums.

I love that they got that late 90s sound for Magic, but I like that it’s it’s own thing. And yeah I would love a Magic 2. I just hope for KD3 Hit-boy doesn’t think that old style is the only sound that fans want from Nas.

I love the diversity of the KD albums. I love 40 side, No Phony Love and Brunch On Sundays.

For KD3 I sort of want a mix of Nas on KD2 and Magic. But not gonna hate either way.

KD2 is better than Magic from song conceptions and diversity of content stand point. And because of that probably of the 3 albums it just edges Magic and KD1

but what Magic has that I missed from Nas is him rapping faster. He’s rapping great on KD1 and KD2 of course but I prefer his rapping at that slightly faster tempo like he was on Magic. He did it on a few tracks on KD2 but something about his hunger and speed of delivery on Magic that’s Nas at his best

I like Magic the best of the 3 because I love the rawness. KD2 is amazing. But I revisit Magic more cause it’s just easier to listen to on the go. So I’m with u. A mixture of Magic and KD2 is undeniable.

Had similar thoughts when i heard Meet joe black as well and after Scarface had to check Gibs top 3 without naming Nas.
Face had to say Nas is the Goat before Gibbs could finish....:lolbron:

I agree a mix of magic, kd1 and kd2 would be perfect for KD3. Nas has mastered the ability to do every track. It will be about grabbing the fight features. If nas is able to get some big features on kd3, it will take it to next level as well.
