Dunno about that but Nas could have dropped a collab album with Dame Grease’s wack beats and multiple people on the Coli would say it was a top 3 album of the year. It is what it is.

I think MOST people here have been consistent on Premo over the last 5 years though. His stuff just isn’t interesting anymore and he’s been remaking Nas Is Like and Boom for what seems like 20 years. He had a cool beat on Drake’s album a few years ago but it’s not close to the best beat on the album.

I thought One of the Best Yet had great production, but nobody ever talks about that album.

I wish Guru was still alive. :mjcry:

I loved One Of The Best Yet personally.

Primo still has it. Especially when he’s motivated like with that final Gangstar Album. If you read about all the bullshyt he had to go through to get those vocals from Solar, it was truly a labor of love putting that album together.

I’ll never suggest that Primo can’t out together a project’s worth of fore beats, its just that for whatever reason those beats aren’t motivating NAS. And when people buy a Nas album we’re buying it to hear NAS. I’ve never in all of my years listening to Nas, have brought one of his albums worrying about why such and such didn’t do the production. I was always excited to hear what NAS brought to the production himself.

If Primo’s work isn’t motivating Nas, then why are we still clamoring for them to work together TWENTY YEARS after their last collaboration? Does that make any sense? Can someone PLEASE explain what purpose would forcing Nas to rap over production he clearly isn’t inspired by would serve?

Hit-Boy won another producer of the year award from the XXL awards.. Nas didn't win anything and was nominated for a few awards. What's interesting is they show you everybody that has a vote in there process. It's all veteran execs, veteran rappers, and veteran radio personalities and DJ's..

Nas not winning multiple awards for the work he did last year tells me everything I need to know about the industry. Nobody is rapping better than Nas right now.

Him winning another one is wishful thinking. I hope so but I thought y’all wanted XXL’s review. Lol. These nikkas just gonna start acting like Nas needed Hit Boy.
