Nas never made the album with DJ Premier but has now made 3 forgettable projects with Hit-Boy and for me that’s his career in a nutshell since Illmatic.

I’ma just go ahead and say it…
If you call yourself a Nas fan and you ain’t feeling KD1, KD2 and Magic then you are NOT a Nas fan. These albums are literally composites of who and what Nas is as an ARTIST. There’s literally NOTHING he could have done differently to
Make these albums any more “Nas” for anyone who calls themselves fans.
At this point Illmatic is just being used as an excuse for people who want to pretend they are Nas fans for whatever reason and want to continue to criticize him. The lack of DJ Premier and Alchemist production is an EXCUSE just to criticize. Nas hasn’t worked with Primo on an album in TWENTY YEARS. You simply cannot be a fan waiting on some shyt that just isn’t going to ever happen
While I don’t think Premo has made interesting music in years, those albums aren’t his fault. The Pryhme albums used samples exclusively from the work of Adrian Younge. The result was a lot of slow beats with boring melodies because Younge’s music rarely translates well to rap no matter how much they try. The only dope beat I remember sampling him EVER was John Muir from Schoolboy Q. Everything else sounds slow and forgettable.I’ve heard those Pryhme joints with Royce and Preem and the production ain’t see these Hit boy albums.
That sail has shipped a long time ago.
Meanwhile,
If Nas dropped an album with Primo later this year, this board would be acting like Jesus resurrected and all of a sudden, the Hitboy albums wouldn't be good enough and miraculously be full of flaws.
I'd put good money on that happening

these guys are nuts man. can we just ignore them?Preem cuts on a few Griselda projects didn’t make me say we need a Preem Nas joint as well. Disappointing they would limit themselves with that approach.
I wouldn’t feel that way at all but I could see it. LolMeanwhile,

dude said Nas hasn't done shyt since illmatic, why should anyone even respond to that.
Dunno about that but Nas could have dropped a collab album with Dame Grease’s wack beats and multiple people on the Coli would say it was a top 3 album of the year. It is what it is.Meanwhile,

I think MOST people here have been consistent on Premo over the last 5 years though. His stuff just isn’t interesting anymore and he’s been remaking Nas Is Like and Boom for what seems like 20 years. He had a cool beat on Drake’s album a few years ago but it’s not close to the best beat on the album.
