Em doesn’t get the critique Nas does not even close.
Well of course not. He's white
His stans still hold him to his 1st 2LP standards
Em doesn’t get the critique Nas does not even close.
But it's not a review of Magic - it's a bit of a retrospective of Nas' career and framing Magic into the context of Nas whole career and output. And his creative stumbles help tell that story because they contribute to the expectations that Nas wound up exceeding. He mentioned things that don’t need to be mentioned according to those that read it, you call this filler in writing, just adding irrelevant shyt for the sake of more paragraphs like what we used to do in school.
According to people who read it again also mentioned I am and Unititled being lazy, like what relevance does that have to Magic apart from those being two good albums.. That’s actually just lazy writing...
Lolwut? Ems last few albums have been ripped apart so thoroughly that Kamikaze ended up being super defensive as a result. Revival got flames and most people call Em a shell of himself who makes Mountain Dew Call of Duty raps, and then of course you got Gen Z digging up his old lyrics. It's just his relentless stans who keep his name alive - and with how big of an artist he was, he has them in greater numbers than most.Em doesn’t get the critique Nas does not even close.

I agree! I think it’s dope that the fans and YouTube hip hop creators are calling the mainstream hip hop media out about their bias towards Nas. They are definitely scrambling bc fans never really called them out like they are doing now. It’s also good that hip hop YouTubers are using their platform to draw attention to the industries’ blatant slander of Nas.I got to praise Nas fans who calling out these idiots. This first time the media have gotten properly called out and you see them scrambling.
The thing with Magic is the quality is pretty irrefutable. With KD1 I can see why someone may not have liked it although I did. With Magic, if you’re a hip hop fan from the 90s like these so called hip hop heads you’re looking stupid hating on this album.
No. But they do bring up the fact he “cheated” on His wife…which was a big part of the focus on the title track of that album. Much like why they would bring up Kelis when discussuing “Life Is Good”. Bringing it up outside of the album is wack thoughSo why then bring up Kelis? I don’t see people writing thinkpieces about Jay and saying remember this is the guy who did two albums with R Kelly when discussing 4.44
It's part of the story - 2018 was a down period of his career and the Kelis allegations did hurt his perception, and compounded with Nasir and the Lost Tapes 2 getting lukewarm receptions, things weren't looking so good for Nas going into KD - so that he's had more success since then is a testament to the strength of the music and Nas just being able to do his own thing. So why then bring up Kelis? I don’t see people writing thinkpieces about Jay and saying remember this is the guy who did two albums with R Kelly when discussing 4.44

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with that article unless you're sensitive.
