Where does this year stand amongst the best years in Nas career?

Lets look at some of Nas big years and compare and contrast

94- Illmatic releases. Debuts at number 12 on Billboard. Receives 5 Mics in the Source. Goes on to receive 2 nominations at the 95 Source Awards

96- It Was Written releases. Debuts at number 1 and spends 4 consecutive weeks at the top slot. Album is certified double platinum and goes on to receive a Grammy nomination at the 97 Grammy awards

99- I am releases. Debuts at number 1 with 470K first week. Album is certified double platinum. Nastradamus releases in November of this year. Debuts at number 7 with 232K first week. Album is certified platinum. I am receives a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2000 Grammys.

01- Stillmatic releases. Debuts at number 8 with 342K first week. Album is certified double platinum. Becomes the first solo rapper to receive two 5 Mics certifications from The Source. Defeats Jay-Z in highly controversial rap battle.

02- Releases Lost Tapes and Gods Son. Lost Tapes debuts at number 10 on billboard with 70K. Gods Son debuts at number 18 after an early Friday release (albums at the time were released on Tuesdays) selling 156K first week.

06- Officially ends beef with Jay-Z. Signs with Def Jam. Releases Hip Hop Is Dead which debuts at number 1 with 358K first week and is certified platinum. Album is nominated for Best Rap Album at the 08 Grammys.

2012- Releases Life Is Good. Debuts at number 1 with 149K first week. Album is certified Gold. CNN names Nas the greatest lyricist in Hip Hip history. The Source names Nas the second greatest lyricist of all time only behind Rakim. Album is nominated for 4 Grammys in 2014

2020- Releases Kings Disease. Debuts at number 5 with 45K sold first week. Album is nominated for and wins Best Rap Album at the 2021 Grammy awards. Becomes oldest rapper to win Best Rap Album

2022- Goes on international sold out tour with Wu-Tang. Releases Kings Disease 3 which goes on to become the highest acclaimed rap album of the year and ties Nas with Jay-Z as the rappers with the most top ten debuts in Billboard history.

2023- Becomes oldest rapper to appear on the cover of Billboard. Appears on the cover of GQ. Performs sold out show at MSG. Inducted into Billboard’s Hip Hop Hall Fame. Nominated for an Emmy award for directing the documentary Supreme Team. Releases 17th studio album Magic 2 to heavy acclaim. Set to perform at Yankee Stadium in a lineup of Hip Hop legends for Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary celebration.
1996 is #1 because that’s when he escaped poverty and became an international superstar

2001 is probably #2 cuz it sealed his legacy forever as an all time great

1994 is #3 because it’s literally the genesis pun intended

I can see an argument for 2023 being in the top 5 especially cuz I think KD4 drops by years end

Ghostface new album is coming out on Mass Appeal.

There’s no WAY we don’t get a Nas/Ghost track on that joint.

Ghost would’ve floated on Slow It Down or What This All Really Means. I hope he gets 1 or 2 Hit Boy beats on the album
Ghost would have been perfect on What This All Really Means

Who remember this joint? Nas went crazy. I always found it strange that Jay didn’t participate. Song still gives me chills honestly cause of what was happening at the time.

I saw this on TV as a kid once and never again until this moment. That shyt just brought me back to the living room I saw it in.

Nice little vid Nasir! Loved some of the visuals.

BUTT, I must say, for some time now, I kinda feel like these videos come & go, they don't really bring much to the table VS the audio only. The last vid I would really enjoy watching often was Big Nas and he doesn't even appear in it. But it was creative and didn't cost much..

I think on the low they try their best with a limited budget, just because well, you kinda gotta drop a video, for the sake of it..

But wouldn't mind if directors got a little more creative.. Like, let's say Beef, I would've tried to make a video like that Denzel movie with the Devil passing from one person to another, singing along to the Rolling Stones.. Now imagine a vid like this with Beef images and people reciting the song's lyrics..

Wouldn't help with the streams... But shyt would be art!

Quick rant here..
