Braveheart Party, My Country, and Smokin are merely mid?Lowkey, Stillmatic is as inconsistent as I Am...the difference is though, the lows are merely "mid" while I Am's lows are straight basura, so the numerous classic songs on Stillmatic carry it to a great but flawed album.
I don't count Braveheart party since that's not on most pressings but yeah i guess you're right about that. My COuntry and Smokin are skips but they're not awful, just whatever. When i think trash, I think Money Is My bytch, Big Things, and K-I-S-S-I-N-G (The last one probably isn't that bad in a vacuum but being surrounded by those first two makes it unbearable)Braveheart Party, My Country, and Smokin are merely mid?
For My Country I just can't get past the beat and especially the hookMy Country is great. The interplay between the shackles of jail and war...come on that shyt is dope lol.
I don't think Smokin is bad but it's meh IMO.

Smokin' and My Country are straight up not good songs, and I've always found What Goes Around to be largely hotep babble. And even Ether and Destroy & Rebuild aren't "great" songs in a vacuum, but elevated by context and the moment. And Rules' a pretty divisive song but I love cheesy earnest shyt like that so I give it a pass...same time though I won't argue with anybody who doesn't fukk with it . But still, the highs are so high that I still think it's a strong 8.5/10 album. I Am's highs are just as high as Stillmatic but the lows are way lower and leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth
Why would you not like that part hahaonly part of What Goes Around i'm not fan of is the 'Physicians prescriptin medicines which is poison, injecting our infants with the poison'. Otherwise great song.
Miss the aggressive political Nas.
He had to scale back because we're in the Cancel Culture society now and that boy is getting too much money with other corporations now lol After they got on his back over the Vaccine line on everything you can tell he's made it a point to stay away from saying anything controversial and I feel him. It's time for some new cats to take some risk with the content.only part of What Goes Around i'm not fan of is the 'Physicians prescriptin medicines which is poison, injecting our infants with the poison'. I think the anti vax sentiment in older cats in the Black community is understandable when shyt like the Tuskegee experiment happened in very recent times and led to a strong distrust of medical science within their generation.I just disagree with it
I know in US perhaps I think people can get prescribed all sorts of negative poisonous shyt that isn’t fully the case where I’m at so that line perhaps I’m less negative about. But disagree with the injecting our children line. But to be clear I ain’t on that wave at all that happened post Nasir where everyone got anti Nas because he had some anti vax lines.
Smokin is okay. Got Yourself is fire. I agree with you on the others. Like I said, remove 2, maybe 3 joints, and the album is damn near flawless.Smokin, My Country, and Braveheart Party are not good songs
Got Yourself A Gun, Rule, and The Flyest are just ok
Everything else is great to super classics
I think the advantage that these Hit-Boy albums have is their consistency
Maybe they don’t have the highest of the highs as Stillmatic (and honestly I think that’s arguable) but they absolutely don’t have the lows
I can play each of these Hit-Boy albums straight through and I can’t say the same for Stillmatic even though that album will always hold a special place
