NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Blueprint is a way more consistent album with only one song that I'd consider mid and damn near every song besides that is a classic. I could see the argument that BP is better than Reasonable Doubt
Blueprint has less songs. It’s not WAY more consistent. It takes way less risks tho even by Jay Z standards being that it was his least lyrical album up until that point. Stillmatic was creative as hell and far more lyrically dense. Blueprint was a production masterpiece. Reasonable Doubt wins for me because it had both.

Smokin is cool, it's like a 3.25/5 type of song, i always felt it was kind of out of place on Stillmatic.

Rule is like a 3.5/5 track, dope song but them 2 prevent Stillmatic being a classic to me.

My Country is dope though.
So 2 songs? Does every classic album have to have this criteria? Every genre? Cause if that’s the case. We would have a serious problem. Lol

Quantity doesn’t equal Quality

Imagine Nas combined KD1-2 and trimmed the fat and just had KD1 be that

Then 2 or 3 years later combined KD3 and Magic’s, trimmed the fat and dropped that

:blessed::blessed::blessed:

Now we in Illmatic/IWW/Stillmatic territory
Magic nor KD3 have any fat

You think Nas and Hit should still drop something end of this year or hold off and turn to next year?

I like the album but it’s raised some fatigue for some listeners

I think when Nas “stops” he’s going to take a break. We went 6 years between Life Is Good and Nasir. I’m cool with him dropping as many albums as he wants before he needs a recharge because be might be in his mid 50’s before he picks up the pen again.

He might win an Emmy this year and I could see him moving semi full time into writing/directing films and tv shows. If Mass Appeal’s media arm REALLY takes off with that then music might be the furthest thing from his mind.

nikkas know I don't drop this often, so cherish it (so cherish it)
Like your daughter's graduation, kid's marriages

He’s already told us enjoy it while it lasts

1. Braveheart Party never has and never will exist.

2. Smokin' is better than every Hit-Boy era track except The Cure.

Peace.
Y'all nikkaz are just

Smokin is okay. Got Yourself is fire. I agree with you on the others. Like I said, remove 2, maybe 3 joints, and the album is damn near flawless.

How is it arguable that these Hitboy shyts have highs matching the highs on Stillmatic? No they don’t, lol, imo.

Out of all 5 Hitboy albums, I think I'd maybe give like 7 songs an A grade. On Stillmatic alone, I'd give 7 songs an A grade. Lol. All the Hitboy shyts range from pretty good to very good...Stillmatic is a borderline classic, different tier. Didn't Stillmatic get 5 mics? Not that it matters, I'm just thinking about it now. It didn't deserve 5 imo because of them 2 ehh joints and the 1 dud...but still, 11 songs of greatness?? You can argue that can still get 5.
The only A Grade songs across the Hit Boy albums I'd say are Moments, Nobody, Speechless, The Truth, Legit, Thun, and Recession Proof. While Stillmatic has the intro, Got Urself, One Mic, 2nd Childhood, Rewind and You're the Man. And while Ethers not exactly a great song it's such a triumph that it's A grade too.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
It deserved a 5 if Blueprint did. Also if Reasonable Doubt was able to be retro rated as a 5 and they didn’t do the same shyt with IWW. Not every 5 Mic album is flawless. It doesn’t have to be. shyt even Illmatic had One Time 4 Ya Mind. While fire, it wasn’t like the rest of the album.
That fukking song is an underrated gem, damn near blasphemy bringing it up in the context of discussing flawed albums :bryan:

I think what you’re describing is S tier. Undisputed classics

I think the Hit Boy era has plenty of A grade songs from KD2 onwards
