From what? What's Hit-Boy stopping Nas from doing? What potential has Nas not reached at this point? His first two albums are masterpieces. His name is already on the wall, he's a certified legend. There's no more potential for him to live up to. He's said it already, he's did it already. Now, he's here, so what's happening?
Stopping Nas from making another classic, or another near classic. I still think he has it in him. You don't think so?
What I said was a warning because I've seen people talk about what they want when it comes to music millions of times, having these expectations in their head that they probably know the artist will never reach. Then they get it and they're not satisfied.
Thank you for the warning but I am a whole grown ass adult man. I pay taxes and everything. I appreciate you trying to look out for me, but the pure condescension in thinking you need to warn me from potentially being unsatisfied is crazy. I don't even care if I end up satisfied or not, so I don't know why you would.
They're asking rhetorical questions at this point, and their confusion/boredom has led to them jumping out the window with ridiculous takes, and they keep on coming.
I feel like the people screaming about how every opinion shared needs to be preempted with "in my opinion" or else it's fighting words are the ones jumping out the window.
I've read a lot dumber takes on this board than "Hitboy is pretty good, but not great. I want Nas to work with someone great." I don't think I went too far with that one. I really do not care at all if you feel differently, so I don't know why my feelings are such a sore spot for others.
"Alchemist sucks. Nobody wants to hear that drumless shyt from a spoiled, skinny-ass white boy. Nas and Hit-Boy forever. If you have a problem with that, like David Carradine, you can go fukk yourself and just die. BRING ON KING'S DISEASE 4. :ohlawd:"
You're joking, but that's pretty much exactly why this conversation started. @Ziggiy got mad people had criticism for Hitboy so he jumped out the window and called Alchemist weak,. Said the only reason people like him is because they want to prop up a "white Jesus" in a black culture. Since then every Nas thread has been us all trolling back and forth, with people saying the shyt you wrote unironically.
You're right, I really don't take this serious. I suspect some people in here do have hurt feelings, but I understand it's just a dumb internet argument we're having. As I've said from the jump, we all have our own opinions and there's nothing wrong with that. I'll argue opinions all day, it's fun for me, but I don't actually give a shyt.

Nas has never worked with Madlib for example, but I imagine the majority of users here would be amped if we found out he was getting a beat from him because they trust his abilities.

There was that one Nas/Madlib track that leaked but it was over a beat Gibbs used and obviously was from a beat tape that floated around. That's not the same as the them being in the studio but people were using that to say Nas and Otis wouldn't work :mjlol:

Agreed. My only pushback is that with the previous albums you had people who produced saying these were very good albums. Not just the videos I posted of Blueprint and Illogical but you had someone like Young Guru go out of his way to say they were well done.

The reason this run was acclaimed was that the biggest critics liked the sonic structure

Even the people outside of this board for the most part still like the production on the previous albums

This feels like it’s just people think Nas can replicate this and should with producers they prefer because they still have this knock that the nikkas in Paris guy is doing this
That's just called people having different opinions. Happens all the time. Blueprint and Illogical are not right and we're wrong. The same way we're not right and they're wrong. We just don't share the same opinion.

And for what it's worth, I do see people praising the production. I think it's been pretty good myself. The biggest criticism for the albums has also consistently been about the production though, throughout the entire run. Every single album had people both praising and criticizing when they dropped.

"This feels like"... Nah, just dead that entire thought. Why don't you just take people at their word? Why would you just assume a bunch of shyt when no one said that? You're building a strawman to argue with instead of just taking what's said at face value. All that extra sauce you're putting on it is just some shyt you made up. I did literal breakdowns about what bothers me about Hitboys production, and I'm still getting told that I want "Illmatic 2 produced by Large Pro and Pete Rock."

Differing opinions is one thing. Clearly there’s people who want Nas to rap on an album full of a certain type of production that he hasn’t fully gone all the way in (which should give people a hint ) But I’m saying the stuff some people are complaining does feel like nitpicking (stock samples, FL beats) For the most part this has been a run with production that works with a balance of modern and classic sounds.

That's not nitpicking. If I can tell it's a sample pack loop that's because of how it sounds. If something sounds flat it doesn't sound good to me.

For example the piano loop on Pistols sounds cheesey to me and it's one of the main components of the beat. If it sounds good to you that's your perspective. I'm not telling you you can't like it. Most people aren't listening to production that closely so they don't care.

This last part is all that really matters and you also gotta know other producers and engineers have chimed in on this run and liked it
