Stopping Nas from making another classic, or another near classic. I still think he has it in him. You don't think so?

Thank you for the warning but I am a whole grown ass adult man. I pay taxes and everything. I appreciate you trying to look out for me, but the pure condescension in thinking you need to warn me from potentially being unsatisfied is crazy. I don't even care if I end up satisfied or not, so I don't know why you would.

I feel like the people screaming about how every opinion shared needs to be preempted with "in my opinion" or else it's fighting words are the ones jumping out the window.
I've read a lot dumber takes on this board than "Hitboy is pretty good, but not great. I want Nas to work with someone great." I don't think I went too far with that one. I really do not care at all if you feel differently, so I don't know why my feelings are such a sore spot for others.

You're joking, but that's pretty much exactly why this conversation started. @Ziggiy got mad people had criticism for Hitboy so he jumped out the window and called Alchemist weak,. Said the only reason people like him is because they want to prop up a "white Jesus" in a black culture. Since then every Nas thread has been us all trolling back and forth, with people saying the shyt you wrote unironically.
You're right, I really don't take this serious. I suspect some people in here do have hurt feelings, but I understand it's just a dumb internet argument we're having. As I've said from the jump, we all have our own opinions and there's nothing wrong with that. I'll argue opinions all day, it's fun for me, but I don't actually give a shyt.

If you could listen to the first four Hit-Boy albums and think that Nas isn't hitting the mark, your standards for him must be a lot higher than mine. What do you think the best Hit-Boy album is and why? Also, what was the last Nas album that met your standards?

I'm sorry. I shouldn't have tried to look out for you. I just feel like, on some level, you were brought to me so I could save you. From something really bad. I can't tell you what that is, but I guess I just have this irrational obsession with telling other grown men what they should do with their lives. Dame Dash would be really disappointed in me. :troll:

When you're on a discussion board and you say things, you should be prepared for people to engage with those things and challenge you if they don't understand, or think you're coming from a misguided place. You might not care what people think, but you should expect that they will, which is why we're all here in this thread. In the past week, I've seen people use Pete Rock as justification for why they don't like Hit-Boy, when Pete is a bitter old man and speaks from a place of hatred concerning everything to do with Nas. I've seen a guy say that Nas has declined vocally and lyrically in the last few years, while also saying that he has no idea why Nas and Hit-Boy are a team. I've seen another guy say that Nas should be releasing music every 3-5 years because nobody cares about him enough to hear more music from him. Rapper drops music frequently, what a horrible thing that is. It's one thing if people said they want to hear Nas over other producers. I never had a problem with that (for the ten millionth time) and nobody else has. But when you say things like "Hit-Boy is starting to hold Nas back," you have to expect people to challenge you on that. People are trying to say whatever they can to make it seem like the last three years were a waste of time.

Remember, this thread exists because of a line that everyone took at face value. Nas never said anything about making another album with Hit-Boy, but one line and people started throwing up at the possibility of these two working together again. The same song that opened up with Nas saying he's been getting hate thrown his way since he made Hit-Boy his right-hand man (a line that everyone ignored). And the stupid thing is that the same people complaining are the same people that will listen to the album anyway. For what? I don't know. To complain more? As much as everyone's over it, they're still going to talk about it.

But you're right. All of this that we're discussing, it doesn't mean anything at the end of the day. Like @prophecypro said, it's a moo point. Like a cow's opinion. It doesn't matter. It just moos and nothing else.

You guys keep trying to make a false dichotomy. It's not "satisfied" or "unsatisfied, "meets standards" or "does not meet standards. Obviously there's a spectrum to the quality of his albums. I fukked with Magic and KD3 heavy, while still having issues with the production. Most of KD2 was great as well, and had the best production of the whole series. KD1 I didn't really care for. I thought Nas was on autopilot. There's only a couple songs on there I would even bother replaying.
Since Magic, Nas has been firing on all cylinders while Hitboy still hasn't worked out his issues. I think if you take the current level Nas is rapping at and combine it with a producer who could actually match his quality, he'd have the potential to drop an album at least at the level of Lost Tapes, which is number 3 on my list for Nas' albums. I don't think he gets there with Hitboy. I feel like Magic, KD 3, or maybe something slightly better is the ceiling with Hitboy on the boards.

Challenge all you like. I told you I have time to bullshyt. The issue is the conversation goes nowhere after a while.
"This is my opinion"
"I disagree"
"I don't care"
"You have to expect people to challenge you on that."
"I said I don't care"

"But I said I disagree?'
"Too bad"
Ok, whats left? I tell you I still think Hitboy is holding Nas back, you tell me you still disagree? Just keep doing that over and over until they bush the thread?

I have no idea what line you're talking about. People have been complaining about the same issues with Hitboy since before he ever linked with Nas. I've had criticisms about his production throughout their entire run. He's still made some quality music regardless, but he's just not the guy you guys seem to think he is (IN MY OPINION). What's confusing about people listening to the album still? Do you have to keep your mouth shut and never have any negative opinions on an artist if you play the music? Do you keep that standards for all artists, or just Nas and Hitboy?
You guys keep trying to make up these weird rules to protect Hitboy.
"You can say you prefer other producers, but saying you think he's holding Nas back is too far 😤"
"You can criticize Hitboy, but you can't also listen to albums he produced because I said so😤"
I don't know how many times I have to tell you guys I don't care. "You have to dikk eat everything Hitboy and Nas do or you can't listen to them at all" is another false dichotomy. You think you can catch me in some kind of logic trap by twisting the laws of reality, but I don't care what you think is stupid or going too far. At all. Don't care.

I don't see the point in people listening to music that they know they're going to have issues with. It's bizarre to me. If you have complaints about Hit-Boy's production, then you know you're going to have the same complaints when the next album comes. It's not like he's going to magically take care of the issues that people have been calling him out on. And it's obvious that a lot of people are tired of him working with Nas, so they're going to come in with a negative mindset before they hear a note.

I'm not going to continue this. I already told you that you made good points, and it's clear to me you're not a hater. At the very least, your takes don't descend into nonsense like "Nas' music is too impersonal now. When was the last time he mentioned his son?" Let's just hope the next album helps shut some of these complaints down.

I don't listen to the albums solely for Hitboy's beats though. I want to hear Nas rap. I don't need to love Hitboy to justify my desire to enjoy a new Nas project.

I definitely hope all my complaints are addressed. Even then, I'd still want to hear Nas work with other producers. It is what it is :yeshrug:

It would be like me staying all up in the Travis Scott Utopia thread talking about how much the production sucked and I wished Travis would go back to letting Cyhi ghostwrite for him and Murda Beatz produce. I listened to the album, it wasn’t for me, so I bounced up outta there. I didn’t need to shout my OPINION across multiple pages when it seemed Travis fans were enjoying it and then act like they were the problem when they challenged it.

Look like nikkas bout to get the best of both so everyone can stop complaining.

We all know the complaining won't stop. Alc and Hitboy producing on a Nas album is about to give us an epic album thread of:

1) who is going to have the better beats

2) Once the album drops, who had the better beats and who was wrong

3) it would've been better had he got Madlib

4) why didn't he just let Alc produce the whole album

u mad son?

I'd prefer a whole Alc album .. Hitboy can't add nothing to an ALC X Nas album other than trap beats and sample pack beats, get that shyt out of here.
