My Soccer/Football brehs, why are there so many French-born/foreign-born African players?

Why is this funny. I'd want the tournament played at a different time as well:what:

The issue is that in the summer it's probably too hot so it is what it is.

It's funny because it's an African tournament. Why should we schedule it around the European club season? Are you familiar with the seasons (weather) in most African countries? Summer months in Europe aligns with the raining season in some countries. How can a tournament be hosted in a water logged pitch?

Speak on things you don't know breh. You're just as clueless as these European fans. Did it ever cross your mind there's a reason it's hosted in January through February?

Due to the Cotonou agreement with the French federation, African players who do not have an EU citizenship are not labeled as foreign players, whereas players from South America or Asia without EU citizenship are labeled as foreign. So the French league is one of the big hubs for African players in Europe who are making the career beyond Africa. Even many English speaking African players move to France because the rules are conducive.

Well, from 2019 it'll be a summer tournament.

This is also true, although the Contonou Agreement wasn't about football, but movement of migrants. Football just became part of that because they are labor.

Stfu nikka. I said I understand why.

But if you're a club in Europe I also understand why you'd want it moved. You're acting like the reasoning is illogical. It's completely logical.

Pretty sure SAF always avoided African players because of it

You stfu, you didn't respond to me saying you understand and hit me with the
what.png
instead like you don't know what I'm talking about

I don't give a fukk if the reasoning is logical since I don't care about no damn European club. It's an African tournament so fukk how they feel. Why should we bend over backwards to please them. If the tables were turned you think they'd do anything for the convenience of Africans? Although steadyrighteous pointed out they just moved it to the summer which I was not aware of :damn:

They are paying the players a shyt ton of money to play and going missing for a month in the middle of the season is bad for the club.

Simple and straight to the point. No arguments here especially with the possibility for them to get injured while they're gone :obama:

Another issue with ACN/ANC that the European clubs had outside of it being mid season, was that it was every 2 years and not every 4 years like their South American and European equivalent. But now with the switch to June and July it will stay every 2 years and with the expanded format they expect more revenue to come in.

The Copa America has had a strange history because it's years have varied from 2-4years gaps, over the past 30 years. Before that it was 4 years and during and after the WWII it was played every year.

I don't even know what fukking point you're trying to make:what:

You originally laughed at the notion of teams losing their players during the season:what:

I was laughing at the audacity of the FANS demanding CAF move the tournament because of their leagues. CAF shouldn't schedule around them as they are a separate organization. It's the equivalent of some Europeans saying the super bowl should be held in the summer for one reason or another. Wouldn't that be funny to you?
