Damn, a lot of yall really think KP is just being decoy status right now? Dude gets post touches and face-ups every night. Go back to earlier in the season and he was crossing cats up for pull up jumpers plenty. He's out of gas, that's not on anyone but maybe Hornacek for overplaying him. He's not asserting himself at all. Go back to the Indy game fourth quarter. BJ and Hernangomez take over the offense and KP does NOTHING to assert himself and I don't blame his mentality, I just think dude is tired with a sore Achilles tendon. He literally got utilized with just as much versatility as Embiid until around mid-December. He's exhausted.

He's 22. He should have plenty of gas.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed here but it's a pretty clear problem. There have been articles about it, his achilles was sore and we saw a similar drop off last season. He probably should have more managed minutes.

I mean if we gotta treat him like he's Manute Bol we got bigger problems.

We learned a couple of lessons from last night; one being that the Knicks can actually make decent rotations in spurts when their focus is there and two being that the age old strategy of doubling offensive focal points is still an easy way to bury the Knicks. Melo and Rose combined for 41 FGA's while the rest of the team combined for 45. Double teams got the ball out of Melo's and KP's hands consistently and the rest of the offense floundered except for Rose who could only really create for himself (not so much a complaint this time as he was hyper efficient). There were shot clock violations, forced isolations and just a lot of ugly offensive sets from the Knicks where even when they moved the ball it would end with a late shot clock force. The Knicks offense was a mess. The defense though was at its best in weeks. They gave up less than 100 points for once and had long spurts of quality defense followed by chunks of no defense...which sounds bad but is still somehow an improvement. More importantly though, there was real effort and communication last night on that end. So we got to see some nice defensive sets for minutes at a time instead of one possession at a time.

Rose: Another sub-5 assist game from Rose and it's just disheartening. Rose had a hyper efficient shooting night, 11-16 for 25 points and 4 assists. Bumping him to SG for chunks actually mitigated some of the defensive damage but Henderson drove on dude fairly comfortably too often. Rose really did well at picking holes in a defense that keyed on Melo and KP but it was all for scoring. This dude didn't get others involved.

Lee: 7 points and 4 assists from lee in a game where he was denied open three's pretty much all game. He managed to have a positive impact via some nice top of the key passing moments and not forcing anything; but it was as pedestrian as can be from him.

Melo: First thing's first 11-25 looks worse than it was because he had a number of late shot clock jumpers; but if you removed those and he had an efficient stat-line it would hide the fact that Melo was making a lot of tough contested jumpers. He was doubled plenty and didn't force much, but the ball would just swing back around to him for a late isolation a lot. He also only chipped in 2 boards and 1 assist; partially because he was the only one willing to shoot and partially because he didn't look out cutters like he had been last week. Defensively I feel like MSG went in on him while he actually showed improved rotations and weakside help (to the tune of three blocks) but he also gave Covington light challenges for some three's which is always a no-no. So 28, 2 and 1 on 11-25 in what was just not a pretty performance. That said, nobody else even attempted to step up besides Rose which is just as disappointing as Melo.

KP: 3-10 on 1-6 from 3. When he went for post ups, he got doubled hard all night. Part of the learning curve is gonna be dealing with doubles and he hasn't figured that out yet. He doesn't catch it until he's trapped most of the time and he passes out late. That's expected from a guy facing new defensive looks, especially at 22. What's promising is when he sees the double, he doesn't panic. He looks around and tries to hit the open man, so you hope he'll speed up the decisions as he develops better comfort and reads from repetitions. But for the past 2 weeks we've seen the defensive scouting report...double him and switch guards onto him. Now it's his turn to respond.

Noah: He spent three quarters being between average and weak, but had a nice 4th. He finished lay-ups and actually challenged Embiid well for the most part, that kid is just an absolute monster. That said he put up 7 and 6 while struggling with foul trouble, another night of not being worth his paycheck. He's been improved recently but he needs more to offset his cost and it's hard to imagine he'll get there.

BJ: Teams are taking away his passing lanes and he has yet to figure out how to be a playmaker as guys are cheating. He HAS found his jumper though, as his man continues to drop off and take away passing angles. He was 4-6 for 9 points and with players dropping off so hard, he probably has to shoot MORE which is a bit scary for ball movement that's already stagnant. Just 2 assists to 3 TO's, I wanna throw him a bone for his TO's being on pass attempts rather than calling his own number but my God...Ron Baker seems like he should get a shot at stealing the role because the kid makes the SIMPLE pass which BJ can't seem to figure out how to do.

Holiday: Holiday was 4,2 and 1 in 15 mins on 2-5 shooting...so it's not an exciting statline but he was part of a great defensive run and posted the highest +/- on the team for it. I seriously think he's outplayed Lance on both ends pretty much nightly and if teams start to take away the three from Courtney Lee, I'll probably start pushing for this kid to eat some of those minutes too. His defense, cutting and aggression always helps even if he makes some foolish passes and forces at times.

Lance: Played good d and put up good effort but didn't score in 20 minutes. He did add 6 boards and 2 assists, low key that's two games in a row where he's dribbling with his head up (a small victory smh). God I hope we find somebody to take this dude off our hands.

KOQ: 5 of 6 for 10 points, 15 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. This was the KOQ from before the flu. Dude probably shoulda looked to score more as he was huge for the team in the second quarter but beyond that he focused more on passing. He ran into some foul trouble thanks to Embiid (honestly if this dude stays healthy it is scary). I'd like to see him get some of his defensive intensity back, it's getting there but not where it was yet.

Kuz: He got 10 minutes and struggled. His trademark aggression backfired with a couple of TO's and he only added 1 assist and a steal plus missed his 2 three point attempts. That said, he needs minutes to keep developing and learning. Lance's defense and effort kept this one glued to the bench.

Willy: 3 minutes where he didn't do much but pick up a loose ball foul that I thought was weak, he was battling well on that one. Then he picked up a late rotation foul where he just moved slow.

Hornacek: Better coached game than recently. His fourth quarter play call got KP a wide open look and he gave some kids a shot...but Ron Baker needs minutes. That dude is clearly the best defensive PG and has been a positive sum player, to bench him the game after Rose completely no showed is crap. He looked disheartened and confused about what he can do to change things in the post game interview; that is a scary thing to see from your head coach. Dude followed up a question about disappointment with the type of sigh you hear when a couple is a week or two away from divorcing.

Random: Saric and Rodriguez were disappointing to watch; I wish there was a way to pair Noel with KP; Ersan Ilyasova has the most intriguing skillset of a player that never looks very good to me...

Your excuses are tiring with the except of his crossover to a jumpshot Kp hasn't displayed a one on one game this season period. He has been a dissappoint in ISO matchups the WHOLE SEASON.

KP has had one game against Detroit where he looked like a franchise player every other game he has had he looks like Ryan Anderson sorry that ain't a franchise player and def not a player to run the offense thru he plays without Rose and Melo on average for like 11 mins a game and has played in numerous games where he doesn't even get a shot up.

While the Sixers' process shows signs of life, the Knicks, under Phil, are dead

"And that buzzer beater by Sixers guard T.J. McConnell? It's adds insult to injury, sure, but it's more. It's a reminder that Philly, which has now won four of five, is so much closer to turning its organization around than the Knicks. They have rising superstar Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel (for now), a soon-to-be-back Ben Simmons and a really interesting young nucleus.

They're fun to watch and full of promise. The opposite of New York.

The Knicks have a top executive feuding with his top star, Rose going AWOL but wanting dollars he's not worth and that his team can't afford to give him, and a deteriorating return on all the investments that were supposed to make the Knicks at least marginally good this year.

That buzzer beater Wednesday night is more than another Knicks loss. It's a sign -- a real sign -- that The Process in Philly is working spectacularly, and that the reality of being a Knick is nothing but pain, disappointment and embarrassment."
