As much as criticism as Melo has gotten for his defense so far (most of it deserved), Porzingis has been equally or if not worse than him. I only watched the first quarter of this game fully and occasionally flipped between the World Series and the knicks game, but his effort in the last two games has been really disappointing. The first quarter alone I saw him give up two wide open three pointers Anderson, failed to fight over a back screen that gave Capela an easy dunk, and provided no help on Harden which allowed him to waltz into the lane for an easy dunk. If his defensive woes persist, he can sit his ass on the bench. :camby:
The development of KP should still be the team's number one priority though. Can't have him only taking four shots out there while Melo and Rose are out there pounding the ball.

Co-sign 100% but what was scary about last night was that even when Melo and Rose were out of the game and KP was the only starter on the floor; he floated around and didn't log many touches let alone take shots. If you get a chance, it's in the second quarter and BJ and Holiday are carrying the scoring load while KP struggles to get good position for entry passes. If I'm not mistaken he got one attempt up off an offensive board. It was an alarming little stretch fam. But hell yeah, Rose and Melo need to be looking for dude more and Hornacek needs to get back to calling down screens where Melo sets a pick and KP cuts through to the rack. They need to get him touches going toward the basket instead of the pull ups at range and poor post position takes. There's enough blame to go all over for me (I have no idea why BJ and KP don't run at least 5 high pick and rolls a game).

Excerpt from Lowe article:

9. The Kristaps Porzingis carousel
Yes, yes, yes! More of this trickery, please!

This is a genius use of Carmelo Anthony as decoy. The Knicks run Anthony off a standard pindown, and they know most teams will expect Anthony to jack. But Anthony circles right back around, and smacks Zinger's man with a nice screen.

This set also launches you down the rabbit hole of determining exactly how much pure triangle offense Jeff Hornacek is running. This isn't quite the triangle; it's a cool set that pops up around the league. But it also emerges out of something like the spacing setup that kicks off a lot of pure triangle possessions.

The triangle soap opera will proceed as long as Phil Jackson hangs around, peeping in on coaches meetings and making a show of tutoring guys in specific triangle actions. But on some nights -- their weekend win against Memphis, for instance -- the Knicks run very little of the real thing.

Aforementioned play by Lowe. Rose sets pindown screen on Melo's man. Melo cuts to the corner. Rose sets another pindown screen on KP's man which sets him up for a wide open elbow three. This time, Rose and Melo are the decoys. NEED MORE OF THIS!!!

KP is the future of ya'll franchise. why would u bring him off the bench. if your team is gonna suck, he should play lots of minutes so he can continue to improve. also, I could see drose having a fit if he got benched BTW. dude still thinks he's an MVP candidate in his mind.

It's going to take some games for them to gel. However, no matter what the lineup is, the Knicks are going to continue to lose if they don't get better on the defensive end.

Breh just trying to think of lineups that could work together.

I mean we know Melo isn't going to go on the bench.

Maybe move KP to the center position and Noah to the bench?

Jennings
Lee
Holiday
Melo
KP?

Rose
Baker
Thomas
KOQ
Noah

man, I don't think :noah: is a serviceable starter in the NBA anymore. but paying him $18M to come off the bench is a tough pill for ya'll management to swallow Im thinking.

THIS MAY BE THE WORST DEFENSIVE TEAM IVE EVER SEEN.

THEY GIVE UP SO MANY EASY BUCKETS
ON SIMPLE ASS PLAYS.

THIS MAY BE THE WORST BENCH IN THE NBA ALSO.

THEY SHOULD HAVE TOOK THAT NOAH MONEY
AND GOT SOME DEPTH.

I NEVER LIKED THAT SIGNING
BECAUSE I SAW HE WAS WASHED
THE LAST 2 YEARS.

He's useless, you were right, I was just holding onto hope. His best asset is his passing, but he also counter acts that by threading the needle too hard and forces TOs. And the more playmaking you want from him, the less Rose has the ball

Man, this is gonna take a lot more patience than I had set aside for the Knicks. The record isn't too much of a surprise tbh as they're first 4 games were against playoff teams but their play and lack of energy and urgency is surprising. At one point all 5 knicks looked like they were in a walk-through practice, looking around waiting for instruction. It's gonna be rough to start but still hoping for good results. After just 4 games, this aint what the Knicks are gonna be :birdman:

1) He still is a good player 2)no matter who is on the roster, you always have some negative sh*t with them. I'm waiting for you to turn on KP, you miserable prick.

Im not turning on Porzingis. He's 20 and is the only guy with any value on the roster, But I expect him to fly up the Knicks 2016 scapegoat rankings when shyt really hits the fan.
