my guy.....if you have any knowledge of how the cba works............................kp aint going no where for the next 6 years. 2 more years on his rookie deal and a 4-5 year max extension...where we offer 50 more million dollars than anyone else...(while he's a restricted free agent...so we can match any offer he gets anyway)
in that time span....being shyt for a few years so we can stack talent...is the only logical way to get better...and KP knows that himself
you bringing up this whole kp will leave shyt...like he's 32 years old like melo...btw melo wont leave either :mjlol:
so miss me with that losing will drive people away shyt

Yeah this narrative that if we don't compete next year KP is gonna demand a trade is :mjlol:

KP can't leave, dummies. He's got a contract.

He's been in the league two years, why are we even talking about this? Some of you need to crack open the CBA and see how it works.

Who said anything about next year? How long have nikkas been waiting for a #1 draft pick? I've read like 6 or 7 posts talking about trade melo/if melo's on this team come the fall.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

:mjlol: talking about I don't know how contracts work. All the numbers in the world won't save y'all from the realization that tanking = no one wants to come here or stay here. So whether it's 2, 3, or 4 years down the line, there is no possibility of turning shyt around if you're constantly tanking. It means your team and organization sucks. We're not talking about a 1 year tank here. We're not talking about tanking because key players suffered season ending injuries. We're talking about a prolonged period of sucking.

We haven't gotten the 1st pick because we never comitt to tanking we try to make the playoffs every year and usually end up around 7 or 8. The one year we had a high pick we got KP! How bout trying it again?

Who says we have to tank for 5 years like the Sixers? Simply go young build through the draft and in a year or two when we get more assets/cap space/flexibility/talent to get better then we go for it

But going for it right now when we have zero assets to trade to get better right away makes zero sense

:heh: I'm not so anti-tank. This is a clear as day. Stop over thinking this.

I'm seriously dumbfounded at this needing a discussion.

If you build a contender then KP stays. If you keep tanking KP leaves. There is no either or. There is no middle ground here.

It doesn't matter how difficult it is to rebuild. It doesn't matter if you don't have the money. You have one option if you want KP to stay on the team. If you can't meet his demands, then he's out. That's that. It's quite simple.

I'm neither for the tank or against it. Just keep it consistent.

:mjlol: Unless Porzingis takes the qualifying offer so he can enter free agency unrestricted over taking a potential five year $200 million contract extension, yeah you clearly have no idea about what you're talking about.

As is customary for me this time of year if the Knicks have their 1st rounder (:martin:), I begin to scout Draft Express videos on Youtube as I'm not a big fan of ncaa mens basketball until March. Yall sleeping on Monk. Heavy. That boy can get buckets. I wouldn't even give a fukk if that's all he did. Remember. We're drafting 8th. We're getting a piece, not a franchise player. If I'm NY and Monk is there at 8, it'd be tough to pass on him.

But this Ntilikina kid is interesting too. His freaky long arms on D impressed me. Offense was good, nowhere near as dynamic or explosive as Monk, but again those arms will give him an advantage. I like him because I like what I see potentially on both sides of the ball. I think he'd fit the triangle as the type of player our coaches boss likes. :comeon: I mean Phil aint coaching or nothin but it's still important to him to have players that fit the system he refuses to coach directly. Yeah. But I'm getting off track! I can see drafting this kid now, but what happens when Phil leaves? Which is after next season I hope. Will he still fit? Or will we be wishing we had Monk and the 20 ppg he will score in the right system as a rook? :ohhh:

Of all the tops guys that get mentioned after Ball and Fultz (I haven't reviewed Tatum and Jackson since we have no shot at them I think), I like Isaac. Don't think he'll be there at 8 tho. If available my preference is:
1)Isaac
2)Monk
3)Ntilikina

EDIT: I'd also be tempted to take DSJ over Frank too.

Link to that podcast, NBA Draft Lottery Show

Think it's Woj who paints a really dark picture of Porzingis and the Knicks. Basically said KP was asking around the league about what he needs to do as a player and what does a stable franchise look like. Said he was really optimistic and eager as a rookie but he's cynical about everything now. Phil really has fukked this up.

Damn and they low key shytted on Dennis Smith Jr. Said it doesn't look like he is prepared.

:jawalrus: :hubie: commit to tanking them my friend

Just don't come back midseason bytching about the direction of the org and how much you hate the knicks. Like half of the people in this thread.

I think that's the most :what: part of this thread. Don't watch. Don't comment. Don't care. But the incessant whining and bytching from nikkas is crazy. Got ya rompers all tight :scust:

By the way, for everyone on the tank bandwagon, you shouldn't give 2 fukks about us being 8th or who we draft, because whoever we get, you don't want them to actually be able to contribute and help us win anyway.

:salute: tank away brehs...just keep it consistent

So whether it's 2, 3, or 4 years down the line, there is no possibility of turning shyt around if you're constantly tanking.

Who is talking about constantly tanking?

They didn't even tank this passed year. They were just trash. And yeah, if they stay trash forever, KP will leave. I HOPE he would leave, because I'd rather see guys I like succeed elsewhere, than be sucked down the sewer.

But this is a trash team, that needs a rebuild. They do not have enough talent to win - in the near term or long term - so they need to acquire MORE talent.

You can't just throw money at any free agent, you gotta be smart about who you spend on, who you invest in. No one move is going to make this team a contender next year. So you have to put yourself on a path to be competitive in the next two-three years.

Who knows, maybe KP makes a huge leap, and suddenly he's carrying the team to 40+ wins. Melo couldn't do it, so I don't expect KP to be able to do it by himself. You need a roster of talent.

So you draft frank or dsj or isaac, you go into the second round and trade up for a flier on Diallo, or grab Bryant or Bolden -- or you grab two guys you think will be contributors sooner, like Frank Mason and Thornwell - a backup guard and a wing defender. And you try to push forward by signing lower-cost higher-upside free agents.

If a deal comes along for melo, you make it, if it doesn't you play, likely finish in the bottom 6-10 again, and hopefully use the cap space and following year's pick to push the team forward.

This whole triangle thing kills me... Phil is gonna be here what, two more years? It's about a given that when he leaves, the triangle will cease to be an issue. So why is it even an issue right now? Especially if you're using it as a gauge as to what player you might draft. That's why it concerns me if it comes down to Ntilikina or someone like Dennis Smith Jr. I watched a few NC State games here in Raleigh, and I was concerned that he couldn't make players around him better. Individually, he's got a lot of ability, as witnessed by that breakout game against dook in the Indoor Outhouse. But imagine if Phil passed on him for Ntilikina and DSJ turns out to be a star... All because of this triangle.... I live in an area that is commonly called the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill), has a mall called Triangle Town Center, has Triangle Transit Authority, I worked in Research TRIANGLE Park.... As you can tell, I'm about sick and tired of hearing triangle.... :damn:

when is this thread going to be retired? get the offseason one jumping already now that we know dennis smith jr will be the knicks' PG for the next 10+ years.

I figure we should wait until after the draft. That way we can come up with witty names based on the pick like "Knickilitina is in the building" or "From JR Smith to Smith Jr" or "The Monk and a Unicorn: A Knick Fantasy"...... you know shyt like that

Ntilikina looks pretty slow tbh. Monk got the wet jumper and speed I think he can correct the areas where he needs work in due time. Between those two I'm picking Monk no question.
