Do you really trust the Knicks to successfully "develop" anybody?
Go back 20 years.
Who have the Knicks developed? Honestly.
Even KP for what he's done so far was an advanced product out of Europe. Every other player who performed relatively well in NY came from elsewhere.
I think David Lee is the last pick we built up into an allstar appearance
Monk is not a PG.
I peg him a tweener, too short to be a SG and wrong skillset to be a PG. He says he can run a pick and roll game well but that ain't a selling point to Phil anyway. Seeing as the triangle mitigates some of the playmaking needs of a PG, I'm nervous the Knicks gun for him and try to turn him PG though. His whole value is tied to whether people think he can run point or not imo.
Ok hypothetically yall get the BPA and he doesn't pan out then what? Yall still blaming phil?
The pick is no doubt gonna take some time. It's the other offseason moves that'll decide how Phil's viewed. Can he get value for some vets? Can he add more youth and assets? Will we be in a position to either fight for a postseason slot (highly doubtful) or tank for someone like Doncic (way more likely) rather than a tweener team that fights for the 8th seed and pick in the mid to late lottery again instead? Since the pick is bound to take time to prove a hit or bust; the rest will be the focal point in the interim.
