Do you really trust the Knicks to successfully "develop" anybody?

Go back 20 years.
Who have the Knicks developed? Honestly.

:comeon:

Even KP for what he's done so far was an advanced product out of Europe. Every other player who performed relatively well in NY came from elsewhere.

I think David Lee is the last pick we built up into an allstar appearance :mjcry:

Monk is not a PG.

I peg him a tweener, too short to be a SG and wrong skillset to be a PG. He says he can run a pick and roll game well but that ain't a selling point to Phil anyway. Seeing as the triangle mitigates some of the playmaking needs of a PG, I'm nervous the Knicks gun for him and try to turn him PG though. His whole value is tied to whether people think he can run point or not imo.

Ok hypothetically yall get the BPA and he doesn't pan out then what? Yall still blaming phil?

The pick is no doubt gonna take some time. It's the other offseason moves that'll decide how Phil's viewed. Can he get value for some vets? Can he add more youth and assets? Will we be in a position to either fight for a postseason slot (highly doubtful) or tank for someone like Doncic (way more likely) rather than a tweener team that fights for the 8th seed and pick in the mid to late lottery again instead? Since the pick is bound to take time to prove a hit or bust; the rest will be the focal point in the interim.

What needs to be explained? Why would KP want to remain on a team that tanks and can't contend?

Pushing for lottery picks means you're pushing KP away.

You say he doesn't want to be on a team tanking instead of contending well the only possible way to contend at this point is to tank and get lucky in the lotto.

We don't have the cap space to sign a star. nor do we have any trade assets to get a great player so please tell me how we can contend without tearing it down and getting another star through the draft?

Since you're so anti tank give me your plan. What mediocre players can we trade to help us contend? Who can we sign that will make us contenders?

The CBA is designed so that your draft picks are most likely sticking around for at least 5 years...KP ain't goin' anywhere and there's plenty of time to build around him before we sweat him walking. Even his brother clarified that KP isn't expecting an instant contender, just a team he can grow with.

:heh: I'm not so anti-tank. This is a clear as day. Stop over thinking this.

I'm seriously dumbfounded at this needing a discussion.

If you build a contender then KP stays. If you keep tanking KP leaves. There is no either or. There is no middle ground here.

It doesn't matter how difficult it is to rebuild. It doesn't matter if you don't have the money. You have one option if you want KP to stay on the team. If you can't meet his demands, then he's out. That's that. It's quite simple.

I'm neither for the tank or against it. Just keep it consistent.

Alright we'll give me how we can compete without tanking to appease KP

I'm all ears :skip:

my guy.....if you have any knowledge of how the cba works............................kp aint going no where for the next 6 years. 2 more years on his rookie deal and a 4-5 year max extension...where we offer 50 more million dollars than anyone else...(while he's a restricted free agent...so we can match any offer he gets anyway)
in that time span....being shyt for a few years so we can stack talent...is the only logical way to get better...and KP knows that himself
you bringing up this whole kp will leave shyt...like he's 32 years old like melo...btw melo wont leave either :mjlol:
so miss me with that losing will drive people away shyt

KP can't leave, dummies. He's got a contract.

He's been in the league two years, why are we even talking about this? Some of you need to crack open the CBA and see how it works.

It's from Passive agressive anti tankers

"I'm not saying I want to tank but say goodbye to KP then :hubie:"
