I just don't have faith that Monk is a PG, haven't seen enough of that mindset or skillset. That's not on him, Cal played him like a SG but I won't assume PG vision or skills from a guy that looked closer to Jamal Crawford at times for me. Add that he's not big enough to be an impact SG imo and I'm just not feeling that pick.

I like Frank. We need perimeter defense and a PG to develop; he's a 6'5 PG with a freak wingspan who has a great defensive motor and has been playing against grown men for a couple years even though he's the youngest cat in the draft. Dude went from his jumper being considered inconsistent to a strength from last season to this season which shows the kid is putting in work already. That French league has been producing quality pros for a minute now, so I trust the competition somewhat too. If our foreign scouts are as high on him as reports say, I'm completely with it. They've done the best work on the entire staff.

Isaac is the wild card. I could see him flying up boards after workouts and us not having a shot at him. His offense isn't a sure thing but there's a foundation of better handle and agility for his size than pretty much anyone, a jumper that is pretty good and not needing the rock...you can build on those and turn him into a special athlete if some of it lands. Defensively, I think he's a sure thing. Dude works, can defend multiple positions and has really nice timing on contests. He needs weight, he's raw but he's athletic and big with huge upside.

The other cat who might fall is Dennis Smith Jr. I'm not as high on him as others with opinions I respect, but they've really hyped him and the reasons are obvious. Dude is an athletic freak and pretty much a guaranteed offensive weapon when he moves up. His measurements disappointed me though and I really wasn't impressed by his defensive effort or play, fishing for chasedowns too much. He'd be worth a pick thanks to need and he's really promising but not my favorite prospect. I still like him above Monk though and the fact that he played with virtually no help around him means that he could wind up being way better than expected as he put up great numbers with defenses solely focused on him.

Monk is not a PG.

Let's be clear folks.

Grabbed this from a France based poster at realgm, it's a nice in-depth look at the prospect I think we're most likely to pick right now and includes links to both a highlight reel and full version of one of his best performances. Shouts to FKF...

"We were disappointed to drop to 4th in 2015, but luckily it helped us grab KP as opposed to a Jahlil Okafor.

We're disappointed here we're not moving up, but we're going to love Frank Ntilikina as a Knick.
He has got to be our pick.

Some of you may know, I live in Paris so I happen to watch a bit of French league.
But I was also born in Strasbourg, and "La SIG", the team where Frank plays this season, is therefore my favorite local team.

Everything I watched from Frank was exciting. He reminds me of Tony Parker when he was playing in Paris before he was drafted by the Spurs. They are two different kinds of guards though, Tony was quicker and a better ball handler, but Frank is a better shooter and has better size. But the potential for success is there.

If you're unfamiliar with him, go watch these highlights from the U18 final between France and Lithuania where Frank put up 30 points and won this **** on his own.

Vincent Collet is the head coach of Strasbourg, also the head coach of the French National team.
If we have a coach in France close to Popovich, that's him. Parker loved to play for him under Le Bleu jersey and they became the first French team to win a EuroBasket in history.

Collet is the best environment Frank could have had to learn basketball in the pros. La SIG was also competing in FIBA's new Champions League at the European level, so their season was more than a regular domestic season.

The 8 o'clock TV news made a story on Frank a few weeks back.
To give you an idea, the last time the French news made a story on a unknown basket-ball player, it was Jeremy Lin during Linsanity.
Frank is a bright kid who did great at school, he plays the piano, he has the maturity, tools and poise to be great at basket-ball.

Speaking both French and English, born in NY, Joakim Noah will be the perfect mentor for Frank, to help him acclimate in NY.
Having Porzingis & Hernangomez on the team also helps, as those dudes know what it is to develop under FIBA rules, and adjust to the NBA.

Kudos to management for bringing Steve Mills to Strasbourg and watch the kid, however, there were 6 other NBA GMs, plus 4 other scouts who made a trip to France already.

He is a no brainer at #8, he'd be the best Knicks pick at guard since Mark Jackson, and we'd be set at the position for the next 15 years.

My only fear is that he's picked above us, but since he has no college profile, we should be fine.
Fultz, Ball, Tatum, Jackson, Fox, should be in the top 5, so we have to hope Orlando & Minnesota each miss the kid.

Do you really trust the Knicks to successfully "develop" anybody?

Go back 20 years.
Who have the Knicks developed? Honestly.

:comeon:

Even KP for what he's done so far was an advanced product out of Europe. Every other player who performed relatively well in NY came from elsewhere.

But with this reasoning, we shouldn't rely on the draft at all.

I have to assume the best and be positive that whoever we pick will be able to excel to his potential.

I trust @storyteller in his assessment. I think Frank is the pick I'm rooting for.

The Spurs develop talent.
The Knicks are a dysfunctional embarrassment. Until they get rid of Phil's bytch ass and someone forces that piece of shyt Dolan to sell, the only thing the Knicks can hope for is raw athletic ability to carry them as far as they can...then maybe a FA will consider stepping in.

They have no shot otherwise.
Look at every Phil Jackson PG throughout his career. It's pathetic.

That's why I said he needs chill out with the triangle talk, you turned down the coaching job so let the man coach. Sit down with Melo and see where he wants to go. Try to get some picks

Melo don't want to go anywhere. There's not really a good fit either.
