Got this from his feed a few days ago, and sums up why you should be worried about Phil moving foward. How Phil treats his players is a major concern, but this isn't just about that. When Phil speaks, he shows he's out of touch. He's mostly made bad moves over the past few years, and speaks like a man who's gonna make more in the future too. I don't care that the triangle won 10 years ago, that's some back in the day shyt, what has it done lately? Other teams take bits of the triangle and modify it to make it successful, but Phil doesn't even wanna do that. Plus, the triangle has only really been successful when Phil has coached it, all of his disciples have failed miserably trying to use it when they coach. One of those disciples-Kurt Rambis- has been beyond terrible as a coach, has consistently fielded some of the worst defenses in the nba the last 5 years he coached(might be more than that actually), and despite all of that, he is still the defensive coordinator of the New York Knicks. Kurt is a cancer, yet he's bulletproof as long as Phil is there( Did Phil even bring up Kurt once in his interview?).

As far as isolation ball goes, it can still work actually; it was a big part of why the Cavs won last year, and two of the biggest stars in the nba - Westbrook and Harden- iso like mad. So there is no reason to shyt on iso ball as a whole.

Exactly...

I'm talking about the few Melo fundamentalists in here who feel he can do no wrong. I agree the majority in here are reasonable even from the pro Melo camp.

I agree Phils been very bad but a few people are trying to create this narrative that we were some really good team that Phil broke up
Breh,

see, you're essentially dedicating posts to a, as you claim, small contingent of fans.

You're asking "why, why, why" when I'm sure you can find a small group of people who think something about anything. I'm sure there are a small group of people who believe sports is a distraction made by aliens to prevent humans from seeing we are being abducted and experimented on...however, since I realize there is no actual benefit in engaging in that debate because that contingent is too small to have real weight in a conversation...I don't bother with it.

Regarding Phil's statements... I mean, the Knicks were a middle of the line team that was just starting to resemble an actual team when his random statements about posses and Melo's flaws became trending topics... it apparently affected the team enough that B. Jennings, who had already been a wizard, decided to state Phil's BS affected everyone as a team.

D. Rose isn't posting here saying the Knicks were about to be a super team...however, if on one hand people are going to claim Iso-Melo is a cancer who negatively affects team chemistry then the discussion about KP's non-critique of Melo but protest against Phil, Jennings statement's about Melo slander affecting the team, instead of Melo affecting the team, etc, are valid points to bring up when people want to continue to shyt on the guy. :ld:

Again, no one is in here saying Melo is Jordan if it wasn't for Phil. No one is saying that.

I don't give a shyt about the system my thing is if he wants to run the triangle so badly coach the team yourself but to undermine Horny and stop practices to show them your system is an awful way to do things and extremely disrespectful to the coach.

The one part I'm worried about is how he dievnt want to rebuild even if he trades Melo. Does that mean he's gonna want another veteran back who has a bad contract? Hope not

As far as ISO ball yeah it can work if you have Kobe or Jordan we don't.

As far as the Cavs Kylie is a ISO player but you forgot to mention their best player is one of the greatest passers in NBA history. Kinda important no?

Most people have acknowledged his flaws.

They aren't talked about because it's been discussed ad nauseam.

Most people believe that the argument to/against Melo as a Knick was most relevant at time of re-sign decision and if Phil contracted him and promised he'd attempt to build a contender than Phil's a fukkboy for not only botching his attempt but being so unprofessional in going about hinting at abandoning what he brought Melo on for.

Most of the people would have been cool if the acknowledgment of the Melo Experiment not working would have been handled w/ transparency and didn't understand how fans of the sport could have cosigned an owner/gm/president behaving the way he did considering the player has been professional.

Interestingly, I don't even believe anyone is even making ANY statements about "let's build around Melo."

I mean...are you seeing that in this thread? Or are you just using baseless talking points because you're being defensive?

Frump, don't be defensive...you're not Phil Jackson, nobody hates you, breh. :russ:

I think a lot of people are overlooking the fact that he re-signed Melo prior to KP. I.E. there was no future piece to build around. That roster consisted of Melo, Amare, Barfnani, Shump, and JR. He I think agggresively bottomed out that season in an attempt to get KAT and then got knocked back to 4. But before there was a KP of course Phil should of done anything he could to keep Melo, Even if the plan was to bottom out you would hope that Melo and the high draft pick would be enough to be a good team post trade (they haven't because the times lines are just to different).

Fast forward to post KP and even then there was this dual purpose to the team of trying to get young Roleplayers (something the triangle needs to work) and proven vets to help Melo.

Then the fukkery starts and Fisher can't do basic coach stuff, and Rambis is an unlikable dikk (who was only an interim coach cause Fisher was fired and was replaced as HC and integrated back into the staff which is the norm)

So he gets a new HC (that uses a two ball handler guard system like the triangle) and they hope in a more stable situation and putting higher value vets around Melo and KP will get them to win. Hindsight being 20/20 it obviously didn't work. So the plan now is to (rebuild) tank, likely to emphasize Drafting euro players who come up in more team ball environments, and to emphasize the system of Ball Phil did win Chips with with players who can run it (see D'antoni on the rockets as proof of systems working when filled with system players)

People who are saying "Oh Phil talks to much shyt" don't know Phil. He talked shyt to GOAT players in the hope that it would inspire them to play better. Melo just got angry cause he cares more about his image than winning. Which is valid because everyone doesn't react the same way to the same stimulus. People who are saying "why would he tell everyone he wants to trade Melo" are ignoring the fact that Melo has been playing cute for months saying Phil hasn't spoken to him about trades when the whole world knows Phil was trying to trade him. That was Phil making it clear he wants to trade Melo and Melo is holding it up. A strong worded letter from the NBAPA (that Melo and CP3 are both high ranking members in) is just more PR to get the fans in Melo's corner when Melo represents more of the same mediocre shyt we got now.

Let's move him, hopefully get a pick and a young player, and bottom out next year because our youth is on Cheap contracts so their isn't any real monetary reason to push for the playoffs (like the Lakers)

Phil also the type of personality that has won 13 championship so he probably feels if he slaps a bytch nikka everyone should think it looks sexy
:hubie:

Not saying Melo is a bytch nikka but once again Phil literally won a championship by knocking a Melo led team out of the WCF (Melo's only conference finals) using the Tryangle. I'm not saying the system is going to work but it's crazy how people can't see why Phil is on his steez in regards to instituting it.

To be fair we don't hear Hornecek complaining. He came here looking to intergrate his two guard transition heavy system with the triangle. The problem was they never had the guards to do it when you can make a legit argument Lee was the best all around guard they had this season. Mostly due to Defense and Rose being a ball hog that experiment disintegrated early in the season.

But if you want to talk about disrespect don't overlook Melo cursing Rambis and Hornecek out after the Brooklyn loss in front the team..... that's perfectly normal.

Hornacek isn't complaining because he's getting paid well but this is an awful position he's been put in

But he came in talking about intergrating his two ball handler transition system with the triangle. The Tryangle and his system can be integrated. The biggest difference being the option of KP (or the sf) would post from the top of the key in the triangle, whereas KP would trail to the 3 point line (like Frye did for the Suns) for the 3.

Even then I am going to also be 100 and all this "we're going to focus on teaching the triangle" is code word for tanking while the players learn the playbook.

unlike this year, next year seems to be a much thinner draft. Even #7 next year could be roleplayers at best status. So I think we're going to bottom out. Which is even more of a reason to move Melo cause why are you wasting another year on the Knicks as they aggressively tank?

As much as Phils an a-hole the overreaction to him saying the Knicks and Melo should part ways as if he told Melo he was gonna fukk his wife and kill his kids was insane.

Problem is the current generation of ballers are so sensitive to any criticism or bashing because they've had nothing but yes men and coddling ass kissers in their corner since a young age at AAU.

Any criticism is now "hating" you can't even coach these guys anymore. Melo cursed at Hornacek for getting on him.

Phil ripped Jordan Pippen Shaq and Kobe at times and they took it in stride yet the reincarnation of Big Dog Robinson is above criticism?

And Phils bring stubborn and archaic about three pointers and I admit the math makes sense why it's become so important but as a old school fan I don't really enjoy the nba becoming a 3 point t shooting contest but I get why it did.

I just don't like watching it

True, but he isn't the worse GM. We can look around the league and his colleagues have had the same or similar issues. There has yet to be a "run him out of town move". No trades of picks, his worse contract is on par with a bunch of other bad contracts (Matthews, Deng, Mozgov, Turner, Crabbe, and Parsons).

We would be further in our rebuild if Grunwald didn't trade for Barfnani, but he actually brought in the better rookie than our 8 pick (fukk the Craptors) as a second round draft and stash.

Like he is at worse a bit below average but because of NY media he gets the most shyt of any GM in the league.

Next year is a much more narrow draft so him going into the season bottoming out with a tank makes sense. Him trying to move Melo when we will likely be in the lottery the next two years makes sense. None of his moves are "wtf Isiah" bad, and he hasn't been coasting like Layden either since he seems to have a plan he is trying to institute.
