That's an overstatement. Rubio probably falls somewhere into the middle 10.
He's not a perfect player, I'm not even sure I'm for a deal. But he's better than Rose -- he'll be better for Porzingis by miles and miles, he defends, and his deal already looks like a steal, compared to what other PGs are gonna command.
Plus, no reason you couldn't still draft a guard, and future-proof the position.
He's not better than Rose. Rubio is a good passer I'll give him that but the rest of his game sucks. And the Knicks will never improve while he is the starting PG.

I'm sure you will disagree with some of these - but that's at least 10 teams where Rubio's an upgrade. And that's without being able to shoot.
He can run and offense, he gets the ball to people in position, and he's a much better defender than Rose. I'd still be happy if they drafted a point guard, you can run two guards, or have the rookie come off the bench, and eventually take over. Rubio's deal only has two more years on it, and relative to the market, is a steal.
The thing is, I'm not even saying I'm all for this deal -- But this summer's free agent class is meehhhhhh-tastic. And paying 200M to chris paul is a death wish.
If you were to somehow also get a pick out of this thing, that's a coup.

he MAY be a better fit for this team(at this point, we are pretty much trying anything), but that doesn't mean hes a better.
With rose expiring and rubio having a extra year on his contract at 14 mil, i will pass
just let rose expire if rubio is the only option. I'd rather spend that money to try and get teague or george hill
minnesota has been trying to trade him for like 4 years....THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES...that says enough in itself

derrick roses defense is horrendous...so is his vision...especially off the pick and roll...he's a good attacker
rubio is a liability if forced to score...but he's a pretty good passer and solid defender.
unfortunately in order to be a great point guard in this league...you need to have the the 3pt ball in your arsenal
you taking L's regardless if relying on either of them to be high level floor generals...on both sides of the ball.
