:lolbron::lolbron: How many times is the NYT/WSJ gonna do this story only to be proven wrong time and time again? When Melrose,Mott Haven, and Beekman houses no longer exist then I will become a believer. East Harlem hasn't even been gentrified on a great scale why would developers/hipsters skip over the Eastside just to live in the last NY neighborhood that still resembles the 1990's?
NYCHA is def the last holdout of old NYC. They are already forming "public/private partnerships". A good friend of mine lived in a converted building right in the middle of some projects down by the Manhattan Bridge on the Manhattan side. Lot of new folks living across the street from projects all over BK. Only a matter of time, esp if Quinn gets in and continues Bloomberg's "luxury city" policies.

Tony Weiner wants to be mayor, would you vote for him? @NYC Rebel @ogc163

:manny: I'm not in NYC right now, but there won't be much difference between these candidates as far as I can see. Interest groups run NYC politics, look at who has influence/numbers and you will be able to see what will happen in the future.

But those PJ's are not built like the ones in the BX. The reason shyt works in BK,Harlem, and the LES is because you can build around the projects and have people who don't have to deal with the PJ's at all. The PJ's in the South Bronx are next to the train stations, shopping hubs, highways one way or another you have to deal with the people who live there. Then there is the difference in attitudes...when I would head to concerts, clubs, large events in the Dyckman,Harlem or BK I noticed the young cats (27 and younger) wasn't on some wilding out ice grilling disrespectful ish (definitely not saying that's a bad thing) But I can tell you from first hand experience that South Bronx folks in that same demo didn't get the message that the rest of NYC has chilled the fukk out. I have no issue or problems walking through/past Harlem projects with 3 or 4 dudes...now doing that in Millbrook PJ's even with a police station across the street:whoa::whoa:

They don't know. The likes of Texas and North Carolina have some of the best economic opportunities in the nation. People still look down at the south like it's still the 1950s.

:rudy:
I lived in the south for four years. Cut that "they don't know" feel good about myself shyt out. :heh:

I"m speaking about the poor working class people I know that moved out there.

I mean it won't be great, but it will be much much much better than up here. NYC is actively working to clear out the working poor.

Your hatred for the south is straight up ignorance. Its the home to the most successful blacks in America and there has been an overall success rate better than the ones that didn't make it. You acting real CAC about anything positive about the south. Like they are lower than human. And I'm an east coast native. Face it: NY working class lost the war on gentrification and it will never come back out of disdain of other regions of America.
