A section of Port Morris in the South Bronx has long been touted as the next Williamsburg. Now, a new sign the neighborhood really is changing: A boutique selling designer clothes for $2,000 or more has just opened on Bruckner Boulevard. :wtf:
It’s a marriage of SoHo chic, and the Boogie Down Bronx.
“There's something major that's about to happen here in the Bronx and I'm so grateful to be part of it … and to kind of be a pioneer," says Jerome Lamaar, the owner of the boutique, called 9J.
He started his fashion career at 15 working for Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat clothing line. The Fashion Institute of Technology grad now has a roster of big name clients, like Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, and he advises major brands across the globe. :ohhh:

No they don't , the E train isn't near there nor is the coffee shop or the gyms. Austin street has a burger spot , 3 dinners 3 gyms, a comic book store and the good Thai spot. The gardens is still heavy Jewish and Irish . Nothing but homes in that area, gated homes, I lived there a long time ago and the walk to the subway was a killer. Going to the movies a pain. Only good thing about the gardens is that Trader Joes is closer for them . All those new condos built on queens Blvd are for the gentrified . Going thru those arch ways for the Gardens are for older home owners.
The comic book Shop is on metro. All the comic and baseball cards shops they had when I was a kid, he's the only one Still surviving

I eat dinner at the Thai place next to the pet store when I feel too lazy to cook. The comic shop is right above it. 2 floors up. Have you tried that steak place around the corner ? It always packed so I never went in yet.

NEW YORK CITY LANDLORD CHARGED WITH HARASSING RENT-STABILIZED TENANTS

Lucy Yang has more from the East Village.

NEW YORK (WABC) --
A landlord who owns 140 apartment buildings in New York City has been charged with harassing rent-stabilized tenants.

"Two weeks ago he changed the mailboxes. We haven't gotten mail in two weeks now. I'm waiting for my tax return. My neighbor for her medicine," said Robin Tzannes, a tenant.

Tzannes says she also endured 15 months of no gas for cooking. She and hundreds of other rent regulated tenants are hoping their living nightmare is finally over.

"Scheme was comprehensive. He went from crudest level of harassment to endangering of tenant lives to sophisticated schemes to defraud banks," said Eric Schneiderman, New York State Attorney General.

Wealthy landlord Steven Croman was arrested Monday morning. He owns more than 140 apartment buildings in Manhattan.

Croman is now slapped with a 20 count criminal indictment from tax fraud to grand larceny.

He is also facing a civil lawsuit for allegedly harassing his rent regulated tenants to move out of his buildings so he could jack up the rent to market rate.

"He's the worst," Tzannes said.

"It was a culture of corruption, where property managers will get a $10,000 bonus to get rent regulated tenants to surrender their apartments," Schneiderman said.

Cynthia Chaffee claims she developed asthma from all the toxic dust in her building and was left in crutches when the railings disappeared.

"I fell down the steps and broke three bones in my legs because he refuses to put railings on our buildings," Chaffee said.

Along with the criminal charges, Schneiderman will file a civil suit against him for threatening rent-stabilized tenants with the use of a former NYPD officer, who he referred to as his "secret weapon."

The officer would accuse tenants to violating their rent control rules after he tricked them into letting him into their apartments.

im hoping the summer and a LOT of hot lead flying around will dissuade the inroads that these tight pants hipster a$$holes are making in the Bronx

i mean for someoen to open a shop in the South Bronx and say they are "helping" the neighborhood and charge 2K for fukking clothing ?!?!? where the residents that have lived there for years barely make 2K a month to live on ????

That'll only make the gentrification process easier.

People complain about the hood being white washed.... but look at Chinatown. Those motherfukkers came, got their money up, bought their buildings, and own their neighborhood. They got skrenfh. We should have been building that strength over the last few decades.

Quoted just so everyone can read this again. We can't make this same mistake in the south....
