Is there a problem with that ? If a business opens and makes money there what's the problem?
No there's no problem...what I was gonna say is that all the customers inside were black, my point is that just because a Starbucks opens up somewhere doesn't mean cacs are gonna take over

not gentrification related, but ive been looking at some of the weird borders of queens/long island and bronx/wakefield. there a literally streets and houses half in nyc and half in the suburbs. apparently where your front door is determines if you live in the city or suburbs. on alot of these streets you'll notice the fire hydrants change color or the street lights are different...that is the border.

Some of the numbered streets from Eastern Queens briefly continue into Western Nassau

i believe the town of floral park actually got cut in half, now half of it is in nyc and half of it is in nassau lol
Same thing with Bellerose. Queens and Nassau were the same county at one time, and Queens wasn't part of NYC until 1898. That would have been interesting if what is now Nassau became part of NYC.

On an unrelated note, I think the whole gentrification thing is overblown in a sense. It is true that rents have gone up substantially, but the borough of Brooklyn is still over 35% black. You see black people pretty much everywhere in Brooklyn, and some parts of Brooklyn you only see black people.

A section of Port Morris in the South Bronx has long been touted as the next Williamsburg. Now, a new sign the neighborhood really is changing: A boutique selling designer clothes for $2,000 or more has just opened on Bruckner Boulevard. :wtf:
It’s a marriage of SoHo chic, and the Boogie Down Bronx.
“There's something major that's about to happen here in the Bronx and I'm so grateful to be part of it … and to kind of be a pioneer," says Jerome Lamaar, the owner of the boutique, called 9J.
He started his fashion career at 15 working for Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat clothing line. The Fashion Institute of Technology grad now has a roster of big name clients, like Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, and he advises major brands across the globe. :ohhh:

The gentry live in Forest Hills Gardens.
No they don't , the E train isn't near there nor is the coffee shop or the gyms. Austin street has a burger spot , 3 dinners 3 gyms, a comic book store and the good Thai spot. The gardens is still heavy Jewish and Irish . Nothing but homes in that area, gated homes, I lived there a long time ago and the walk to the subway was a killer. Going to the movies a pain. Only good thing about the gardens is that Trader Joes is closer for them . All those new condos built on queens Blvd are for the gentrified . Going thru those arch ways for the Gardens are for older home owners.
