Piano District huh So I guess they gave up on "SOBRO"... At least this name makes sense since there a bunch of old piano factories in that area.

Just re-visiting this thread to see if there has been any gainful insight in the past few months in here regarding changes in NYC. I find myself as of late on the fence regarding gentrification. Of course my situation is very different from the majority of natives my age. I say that because I ensured that my future was secure while most of my peers were not. Now that I have been able to somewhat reap the benefits of my hard work in my 20s, I am not necessarily sure that it is such a bad thing.

Of course I wish neighborhoods would remain in the majorities whilst improving; however, that does not seem to be the case as many of my peers are still caught up on trying to make sense of where they went wrong a decade ago (poor spending habits, misled into mountains of personal debt) etc. I often ask what's next. In my neighborhood last week, I noticed 10 homes for sale as I drove around so I am naturally curious to see what "change" really brings as some of my Bed Stuy and Ft. Greene brethren have warned against these changes and the overall lasting effects.

I also copped this book in order to shed some light on the pros and cons to help make better sense of gentrification in NYC, specifically in Brooklyn and how it will affect future generations.

I went to one of the parties here on Thursday night. It can be seen on Instagram just search #macabreSuite. The event was mad dope , you had super hot girls, great music. Food off the chain. Now the serious stuff, the area is 78% hood still but let me say this, the developer is not playing. These Russian cats got it mapped out and planned for takeover. I know some Coli dude going to say it's too gully, nah b these dudes got it covered, with the city and state. Now if you a minority and you got a business plan Ready, these dudes will work with you and you will make some money of the new people moving in. There is a hell of allot to make, trust me. I got that invite and made sure I got my connections lined up. Once they figure out a transportation plan for the area, hint hint start a car service from there too Manhatten and you will cake heavy. That's my only free idea I'm tossing too dudes on here who want too make money instead crying about the good old days. I'm thinking the area needs a classy pool hall/ slash fine wine and appetizer spot. If you want too know when the next party is happening I will pass it out. You just got to get an invite.

I think Mott Haven has a high chance of gentrifying because it's close to Manhattan, and it's densely populated. But I can't picture Soundview, Castle Hill, etc. gentrifying because of the layout.

:ehh:they beat the system they deserve their freedom

now im not going to sit here and get into a debate about incomes and policies and all that. REGARDLESS, if you do not own anything, you have no right to complain. Cause it aint yours. The arabs, chinese, and dominicans hold all the businesses in the hood so do the customer have the right to bytch when starbucks and jamba juice come through and buy them out? No. If you sat there renting SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY for 15 years and then when hipsters come through and say to the landlord ill pay you 2500 for the same space, do you have the right to fight the landlord increasing rents? no, cause IT AINT YOURS.

Its the businessowners and landlords that allow gentrification. Why? Cause it belongs to them. If you end up being a casuality, **** happens. Stop living passive and these things wont happen to you.

This is parallel to some lanky kid getting herbed in school complaining [security guards] allowing this to happen:stopitslime:. nikka get your [hands] up and box i bet theyll stop:birdman:

Just be careful, those Russian businessmen are ruthless and sneaky. It takes a lot of shrewdness and temerity to make bread in a country like that. Don't think these dudes are your friends, even if they're willing to break some bread with you.
