Especially those going to NYU and Columbia from the Midwest or something from a different culture than NYC. Not just the whites.

Suburbans detached from the community... I know because I was (am?) one growing up Canada.

I think economics are certainly running bruhs out of NY. I do pretty well but in the back of my mind, i imagine how much better I could live in ATL or NC ( the negro paradise we have been conditioned to believe it is) Some A level bruhs left NY all together, then some left for the burbs ( cant front....i live in the burbs now..but its actually cheaper for me out here) So what left is the small percentage of constructive black men and the rest of dreaming of "living the dream"
Where do you live, Long Island? Jersey? The suburbs is not that bad, I prefer the city. On the surface ATL and NC are paradise. But they are cheaper. Don't move to Florida, no good jobs down there.

Westchester is nice! You must be doing well. I went back to Canada to finish my degree. Man they must think you are from the Bronx or Yonkers. Raleigh I have heard good things about, haven't been there but the poster @CarolinaSlim is also from the NYC area and moved there. He likes it. Avoid DE unless you get a place in Philly!

Me too man, me too.

TBCH, some of these new black folks coming into New York dissappoint the hell out of me. THey're like the black version of the emaciated ambigous effeminate white hipsters that have moved here. Either that or they're the fake "pro-black" black women that use their blackness as an accessory and date white guys out of spite for black men that have supposedly mistreated them over the years. I can't count on them I feel like. They aren't even investing in the community and just see it as a trend at it's most superficial base like every other transplant.

Where are the black men that are educated, work out, play basketball, do normal things and have normal non-look at me jobs?
It seems like all of the responsible educated and strong black men have moved out of the city completely.

Take race out of the equation for a second now...where are all the non-attention seeking, skilled, certified, educated, and normal people that move to NYC? It seems like all of the responsible educated and strong black men have moved out of the city completely.

I'm sick and tired of meeting all of these fake models, fake fashion designers, fake artists, piss poor musicians, DJs, and creatives. WE don't need creatives in this country really or this city anymore...where are all the doctors? Engineers? Techs? Why are all of these young people that move here just ambitionless attention whores that really overvalue themselves?

Hipster nigros in general, same non-sense in Toronto. Theyre all tied in with the feminist/ lebian gay shyt. I see some of these dude skipping around when I go out sometimes you cant tell whether theyre homo or not and they take PRIDE in it. They'll say some shyt like "we dont believe in gender norms" or some weird non-sense like that. Sucks for NY

This is why I gave up the car life. I'm saving thousands.

I gave up the car 2 years ago since moving to Hoboken where I can simply take a 10 minute Path train(except Saturdays and Sundays at rush hour) to go to NYC. I saved hundreds of dollars in gas these past 2 years.

It's sad. I moved here mainly because in terms of the Northeast, NYC seemed to have that historical legacy of prosperity for black people in general. So many black millionaires and entrepeneurs and a diversity of Africans, West Indians, and African Americans. Where I'm from (Pittsburgh), most black people are unemployed and have very little opportunities to change their situations. Also, there is no diversity there whatsoever.

Other than a couple I met...I don't like em. :yeshrug:They act way too brand new for me...

And yeah, some of them are either gay or extremely effeminate or pacified. They aren't strong black people IMO, they the "black when convenient" new blacks that Pharrell was talking about.

They're also seen as really safe and damn near whitewashed. Someone like myself can't been seen as 'safe' as them. I'm a tall black dude, I work out and have an athletic build, people are still intimidated by me. They on the other hand are pushovers. I feel when it came to finding basic employment employers prefer these new blacks more than someone like myself. I'm not making excuses or whatnot or want people to feel bad for me cause I'm good now, but I've noticed this alot.

Maybe I am wrong but I always looked at the DC Triangle as a place where blacks thrived, maybe not as many entrepeneurs but plenty of well to do people of color. I really wanted to live there but the issue with that is the cost of living is just as bad there as NY so that keeps me from going there

My issue is where are all the black people gonna go when gentrification gets really bad? It seems like all of them are being flushed out of America's major cities into the suburbs while the cities themselves get whiter and/or are being pushed down to the South.

Personally, I don't want to live in the South and hate the fact that most black people are being forced to settle for less instead of going for what they really want in life and live in the places they actually want to live in. A bad economy, inflation, and a lack of jobs has led to too many black people lingering around depressed areas they seem to not be able to leave due to a lack of education/degrees/certs/etc and a criminal lack of employement opportunities.

I agree in principle except Raleigh defies the depressed South vibe one gets- from what I gather its the "up and coming" area of the South- with ton of tech companies and banks opening operations down there. Thats the main reason why that the only place in the south in considering. Its funny bc the whites moved to the burbs and we moved into the city and now its reversing....
