I agree with the fact that the playing field isn't leveled, but, I noticed the trash and constantly send tweets, posts and emails to my local politicians regarding the situation. I tried to get my neighbors on board at first but most hit me with the :ohhh::ehh: once I tried to get a group effort together to keep the area clean but once it came time to get into action most hit me with the excuses like:patrice::sas1::camby:

The ONLY ones to help me constantly harass the politicians to help clean and get garbage cans on major intersections were the :ld::smugfavre: neighbors who barely spoke but understood the need to have the neighborhood that we share cleaned.
That, I won't argue, it can be hard as hell to galvanize our own. But it's also due to the fact that "they're" taught early on that their voice matters and when they rally, they see results. More often than not, our attempts to get things done has been met with apathy or derision. They'll write letters, make calls, rally and do whatever else because historically it's worked for them. Us, not so much. I do agree we need to do more as a community and people though.

True. My old lady said that the recycling bins won't work in all black neighborhoods because if they can't throw it in a garbage bin, chances are they will probably toss any garbage in any of the bins. I disagreed because on garbage days, almost everyone in the nabe puts out their recycling along with the trash. If you can do it at home, you can do it in the streets.

I do wish to see at least one majority black neighborhood in the borough clean up without the aid of gentrification.

Yeah. I respectfully disagree with her as well. I've seen people in my building do it as well.
What part of NYC are you in?

Its deeper than that.

We don't even feel like citizens.

We'll only fight to preserve our autonomy, but a lot of us lack pride in not only our cities, but our country as a result of all we've been through.

Even having a small sense of honor in where you live helps and goes a LONG way.

Agreed.

Brooklyn near Brooklyn College.
Dope. I shuffle between Crown Heights and Canarsie every couple days.

Fort Greene and Bed Stuy are still majority black. A lot of winners for the greenest block awards have come from black hoods.

Edit: Fort Greene is probably 50/50.

My friend was telling me that a landlord is trying to raise the rent on her friends apartment by $300 in an already expensive ass Brooklyn :damn:

Seems like they just want her out to move white people in who will pay that much.
My question is: For how long? Folks white or black gonna start bucking them prices, lest we forget that the high Manhattan prices are what drove a lot of people to Brooklyn in the first place. That's why I'm for affordable housing priced regardless. I don't want anyone getting fleeced.
