Back in the DMV
I'm also looking into San Marcos, but an adult's vibe is definitely more of what I'm after. As long as it's a safe neighborhood, 20 min drive from beaches and nightlife, and has a private yard I could smoke my weed in peace in I'd be happy.

San Marcos is nice. You have a straight shot (its the 78, I think?) that goes right to Oceanside. Plenty of stores and all that stuff. Good choice.

I gotta defer to the folks that grew up in SD, I'm a transplant as well. Hope some information helps you :salute:

I've been considering this move too but don't want to be involved with mexicacs local hood politics like that :mjpls:..or this unavoidable in San Diego and Cali in general anyway?

Any recommendations where the upper middle class black/mixed neighborhoods are?
Breh, I'm from San Diego born and raised. I don't know shyt about the upper/middle class Black people down here, but Southeast is the Black portion here to my knowledge (I've only lived in the southeast). We're everywhere, though.

As far as MexiCACS go, this is SAN DIEGO, MEXICO is around the corner damn near. They smell themselves up here, ain't no way around it, you're going to have to deal with them one way or another. Keep em at a distance, but keep your eyes on them.

Value Homes I would look into Chula Vista, East County, Escondido, Poway, Temecula ( Temecula about 1 hour north of San Diego, but you get the most bang for your buck while living in a nice area)

If you want more city life Downtown and North Park area are the best imo.

As with any major life-altering decision I make, I figured I'd consult the brehs...

Long story short, I'm planning a move to San Diego in the next 2-3 years to coincide with my kid graduating HS.

I'd be looking to either rent for the first year or purchase a home straight away (budget around $600-700K) and was curious if anyone had any advice on neighborhoods to avoid and others to pinpoint? I've been looking a lot at Oceanside, Pacific Beach, Carlsbad and Encinitas so was curious if anyone on the board lived in the area and could provide some insight.

I've been told to avoid Imperial Beach, Oak Park and National City.
You aren’t buying anything with that budget but a mobile home. Not trying to be harsh but keeping it straight.

No lie told
Breh, my sister's husband (we grew up together) told me a story about how his relative car ran out of gas in Santee, so he stopped at a gas station to get some gas.

Some CACS drove by, saw him and did a U-Turn, came back and a "big CAC" hopped out the truck and said "what the fukk are you doing here, N-Word?".

He said his relative sprayed him with the gas pump, hopped in his car and sped off.
