Movies in 2023 are as bad, or worse, than they were in the 1980s

The 80's went way too far with the hero movies....

This was on recently and it was absolutely horrible

Is it really the consensus that the 80s movie era was bad?

I don't think its true at all. Movies were cheesier in the 80s but I kinda enjoy that element of 80s movies. 80s comedy movies alone beat the dog shyt out of every other era.

70s films are grittier, and some are the defining classics, but a lot of stuff aged really badly.

90s had much more intelligent and cool studio movies and was a golden era for indie cinema.

Out of the 3, 70s is probably my least favorite, but I know thats partly just my age.

80s had maybe the best comedies.
Best action/adventure flicks.
Great horror decade.

I think if they lacked in any genre it might be drama. But I am sure some people would dispute that.

70s had some of the greatest movies ever made along with some of the most influential. Might be the best decade otr.

At least in the 80s bytches were willing to take their clothes off. Thar decade gave us numerous coming of age classic films that have been severely lacking in Hollywood.

It's difficult to compare a complete decade of movies (80s) to half a year of movies (2023), especially when that decade comes with nostalgia for a lot of people, so it can be rated with bias. There has been solid, enjoyable movies this year.

80's dramas are definitely ass. i'll give Amadeus and Raging Bull their props, but that's where it stops

it's the roc!

E.T. is one of the GOAT, I'd classify that in part as a drama. Platoon. Rain Man. I'm sure there's others I can think on
Stand By Me, Color Purple, Do the right thing.

Stand By Me, Dead Poets Society, Steel Magnolias, Once Upon a Time in America (depending on the cut you watch), The Breakfast Club, A Soldier's Story, Bad Boys & Colors....the 80's has plenty of drama

There are decent enough dramas in the 1980s.

The reason why it’s viewed as a step down is because the 1970s was a lot better.
