Naw.....Pan Africanism works both ways, Jason Black talks about that all the time.

The Black American students should be allowed to travel to Nigeria also and learn.

What for? And get a degree studying in Nigeria when the rest of the entire world looks at education in africa as inferior. So considering that going there to srudy makes what sense?

For the record it is a two way street, infact this deal is a one way street where the benefits are stacked in the US's favour. What type of people do you think will be selected to come over and study? What fields are they going to be specialising in? What purpose or benefit do you think it would be to the Uni and the US to take academically knowledgeable people in Africa and educate them in your country and institutions before sending them back to their countries where their western education will secure them top positions of power? Do you know how many dictators throughout modern African History have been western educated?

nikkas cant handle anything more than surface level thought.

Above the fray.
Just as an FYI in case some posters are not aware, many HBCUs already have programs that have been established for YEARS that send black students to study and live in Africa.

Howard, for instance, offers nine different programs that you can pick from if you are interested in studying on the continent

Study Abroad | Center for African Studies

So we can dead this narrative that these programs don't exist because they do and in abundance at HBCUs and have been sending black american students to Africa for decades.
This does help Black American students by helping keep MSU afloat since Black Americans are its number 1 targeted demographics. All U.S. schools (not just HBCUs) love international students cuz they pay in full. HBCUs have it particularly rough since its target demographic is also the least equipped to pay for education. Deals like this help enable the school to divert more money to helping the Black American students who attend the university financially.

Wait, you guys think that these guys are having this discussion in good faith, and will walk back the criticism when you countered them with facts?

For example, the example that boy cited with the US govt. financing the travel, tuition, and expenses for HBCU students at universities in West Africa. LITERALLY, the reciprocal of what the OP article is about. That will be ignored.

Facts don't matter to a growing segment of members here.
When they hold notions about how the world works, and get confronted by facts that shatter those notions, hard for them to accept reality.

First....that is called White Supremacy.
Second....How is the education in Africa looked at as inferior, when all STEM's came out of Africa. All of education was started in Africa. Not only are there pyramids in Egypt, there are some in Nigeria and all over Africa, that no body can explain.
Third....If the Nigerians would have allowed the Black American students to go over to Nigeria, maybe they would stop calling Black Americans Akatas

Absolutely. Serious discussion here about anything is a waste of time.

Nah, it's possible. Some are just incapable of forming their own opinions about topics. When the opinion that they've heard, believed, and repeated gets challenged, they are stuck.

He said the “OP article”, he didn’t write the OP article.

You taking time to respond to that in hopes of a ‘gotcha’ moment instead of the actual point just further proves his assertion.

Lol

People really don't know how fukked up the rest of the world is :mjlol:

But this is probably due to the travel ban.

Scholarship is one of the few ways Nigerians can still get a US visa so they're about to start cashing out to encourage schools to take more Nigerian students.

:jbhmm: interesting that's why the foreign brehs are so hostile in here

Yup not worth engaging.

Black people who are not hostile with each other... A rarity in these parts.
