More than 40% of total shots are 3pt attempts for the first time in NBA history

As has been stated a few times, the players have outgrown the dimensions of the court. They’re too big, too athletic, and too good at shooting. NBA should probably look into some actual changes to court dimensions. Moving the line back, and expanding the baseline so corner 3s are longer.
I brought that up on a Derek Harper interview over a decade ago. Didn’t expect to see this with the 3 point shot though

I also think we’re just getting older and falling out of love with the sport. It happens with entertainment
A lot of folks never even loved the sport...they loved Mike or his offspring. If you could go back in time and bring Mike into todays league with no changes to the gameplay or product a lot of these complaints would disappear. People truly believe slow ass isoball brick fests with 73-69 scores and nikkas that had no business being in the league are not only peak basketball but peak entertainment because they grew up on it and the guy that they like, love, or stan was around.

Teams are just chasing the math.

3 points is worth more than 2.
If you can make the 3s at a high enough percentage, it's the better shot to take.

If you move the 3 point line back or eliminated it entirely, the math would change and strategy would adjust.

You could say "well the 3 was around in the 1980s and they didnt shoot them".

Yeah. Well, it took a while for teams to recognize its true value.
True....

33.5% on 100 shots from 3 = 100.5 pts

50% on 100 shots from 2 = 100 pts

You can be "meh" on 3's and still be better than an actually good shooter who lives inside the arc.

Today’s players are so good that you have to make up fake problems to complain about.

There’s literally 6th men in todays league more skilled than MJ. :wow:

The absolute highest level of basketball talent we’ve ever seen. :wow:

This shift has only occurred the last few years with most teams copying Steph & The Warriors

I don't even think you know how to define "spamming threes"

It's just a term people use because they don't understand the concept of going for 3 points over going for 2 points.

Suppose you are playing blackjack.

The dealer is showing a 7 and you have 16.

If you play 100 hands and you hit every time and lose...was it wrong to hit on 16?

The answer is No.

The same concept applies to basketball and going for 3. When appropriate, going for 3 is the mathematically sound decision even if you miss.

Does that mean you ALWAYS shoot a 3?
No.
Because it depends. Just like you won't always be dealt a 16 in blackjack.

If you can't understand this, there's nothing else I can tell you.
Define spamming

You are making an argument that is not being played out in reality for most NBA teams. There is a reason people ain’t that interested in watching like that
