So your first instinct is to sell drugs? He got offered a job in Alaska for 1 year that would've paid him $500 a week, and in the 70s that was a shytload of money. Florida didn't want him to be gone for a year, and because of her selfishness he ended up being gone forever:mjcry:.

I defend his character because I always respected the episode where Hakeem’s father failed to show up to his birthday and Moesha’s pops stepped up and got him that tie. That was a dope ass heartwarming moment in tv history.

Also with all the work he put in Keeping Moesha’s ass in line and on the right path seasons 1-3 there’s no WAY he could EVER be worse than Will’s pops on Fresh Prince. I don’t give two fukks he was so terrible as a father he literally turned Will Smith into a great actor because that scene was probably his finest onscreen performance up til that time

Nobody talks about it, but the scene where Will tells Uncle Phil that Carlton took the pills from his locker was fantastic. Just seeing Will systematically break down over the course of a few minutes, and tears dripping from his chin as he has to acknowledge that Carlton could have died is just........it’s beautiful acting. Will was already a genius comedically, but the first time he proved he could kill it dramatically was with that scene. :wow:

What's crazy is that 90% of the episode is comedy, even the scene where Carlton's in the hospital. So when the final scene comes, it's like someone hit you in the throat. And then Uncle Phil saying, "Sorry? My son could have died because of you. :scust:" There is so much disgust in his voice when he says that. Even the way he says it, it's like Will's not a part of the family, he's just some random drug dealer that tried to kill Carlton.

I never knew that. See. That sh*t is realistic. I get people don’t want to see black families portrayed poorly on tv but at the same time they kept it real. I guess too real lol. Moesha didn’t know what was going on in her parents marriage. They could’ve just said they came close to divorcing, he cheated, he reconciled with Moe’s mom and the woman never told him she had a son. Boom. Done.

About a year after the original episode, they tried cleaning it up by revealing that Frank never cheated on Moesha’s mother. Apparently, she walked out on Frank and Moesha and they were separated. That's when Dorian was conceived. But by that time, it was already too late.

On the real James from good times let Florida keep the family in poverty and from golden opportunities constantly. So if he would have put his foot down and gone into the dope and numbers game like he should've, the Evans family probably get out the projects sooner and he doesn't die tragically out there grinding for pennies out of state.. so yeah James Evans because he ain't tell his wife to fall back.

Moesha is one of those shows that was actually trash. But since we can't remember it well and it was around during a certain era, it's gets tossed in there with the classics.

I challenge y'all to go back and watch the show now. You will be shocked at how you missed how trash it was.
