And when asked if was gonna spend money once the stadium was built he was basically like

You’d think there’d be a little more long term thinking in regards to all the bad publicity the league is getting with conduct like this and how it’s driving fans away. How exactly do they plan on selling tickets to 81 home games for a team that’ll have a $40 million payroll and will be out of the playoff race by the end of May or the middle of June?

If Balmer upped to Vegas it would've worked, The Clippers are a franchise with no real identity or true attachment to LA.
Bullsh*t, Clipps played in South Central (The Sports Arena) for like 30 years before Staples was built. Laker fans even went to Clipper games back in the day cause it was the cheaper option. So please keep the Clipps name out of this low budget broke team bullshyt. We building Battlestar Galactica in Inglewood right now :gucci:

Breh, the entire Clippers strategy for the last 30 years was to go see your favorite team play them. Even during the lob city era.

If Balmer moved them to Vegas, he could've got that same stadium, plus another tenant in UNLV basketball possibly Pac-12/MWC Championship game....and a metro area that has shown that it's willing to support franchises.....all while using that same strategy.

I know you one of the few Clipper fans, but lets be honest here.

A shytty losing history yes, but no attachment or identity to LA is 100% false. Vegas already has 3-4 venues for post season tournaments and the relatively new Vegas Knights NHL arena. There's way more money to make here in LA as opposed to Vegas. The metro of LA is 20 million, Vegas is 2.5 million. It's going to be a huge squeeze and strain on the disposable income in Vegas once the A's touch down. Ballmer owns The Forum and the new Clipper arena and some of the Forum's concerts will be going to the new arena. Plus Intuit Dome will get numerous events for the 2028 Olympics in LA. We good breh

Plus Steve Ballmer ain't a broke boi like John Fisher who needs to shake down a city to build an stadium

I went to a lot of Yankees games in Tampa when I was a kid. I’m talking the days when the roster had Jeter, Jorge, Bernie, Andy, Mariano, Tino, Giambi, A-Rod, Sheffield, Damon, Matsui, Clemens, & Mussina from 2001-2007. Even with that being a region full of New Yorkers and the Yankees being the biggest box office draw in sports I never saw that stadium at more than 55-60% capacity. I think they barely drew 20,000 fans for their last playoff game. I think the biggest contract they’ve ever given out was $44 million total.

They’re lucky that Angelos & Steinbrenner openly don’t care about winning while Boston crashes and burns every couple years because that’s a franchise that with how its ownership operates should see the postseason about as often as Kansas City does. The league can’t handle more franchises operating like that.

Well yeah. The Rays margin for error is super slim. But also they've built a front office brand on being super smart with how the find talent and develop and sustaining that made it a place smart baseball people want to go there because if the rest of the league keeps hiring their people.

The A's have absolutely none of that.

Really shows the disparity of MLB vs. NFL in America now.
The A’s have also been a dumpster fire for decades now whose owner might be the absolute worst in all of pro sports today. Everyone who knows anything about the A’s knows that fisher has no interest in winning so what reason is there to be hyped about having a team that’s a lock to lose 95-110 games every year with no star player to get excited to see? The fact that they can’t even draw 10,000 fans per game in Oakland, which absolutely loves their team should tell you all you need to know about ownership.

Edit: we got a movie 13 years ago about how Billy Beane in 2002 had to build a team out of table scraps after the previous owner decided to let all his best players walk in free agency and their current owner is even worse than that guy.
