Dumbest argument ever. And Russell accomplished more than Mike in less time so what does this mean?

Russell had his 7th title in Y8; took Mike until Y13 to get to 6. Russell won his 5th MVP in Y9; took Mike to Y13 to win his 5th. Russell is widely heralded as the greatest defensive player ever, in an era there was no such thing as DPOY. How many DPOYs do you think he would have won, hypothetically? Unquestionably more than the 1 that Mike won...

There was no FMVPs in Russell's day. How many would he won? Easily 5, and highly likely more than the 6 Mike won---->and Russell would have won those in less time than it took Mike to win 6...

The most illogical thing about Mike Stans is that they base his GOAT case as much off mythology and goalpost-moving as anything else. But watch a bunch of nikkas jump in here mad about how Russell did everything Mike did in shorter time hahaha...

Do I think this necessarily means Russell is historically greater than Mike? Of course not, there's nuance in all these subjective discussions. I think Russell's degree of success is because of the same thing as Mike's: right guy, right time, right era, right place. That level of achievement isn't happening again in a more advanced league, certainly not in the relatively short time frames they accomplished what they did. A bunch of circumstantial shyt lined up in their favors that just isn't allowable anymore...

@Juggalo Fred the only head on here who calls Russell the GOAT. None of you other nikkas do so yall can get the fukk on with who did what faster because Jordan doesn't win that contest either...

Russell didn’t score but no one did on those Celtics teams… they were extremely balanced. He was the defensive anchor. Undoubtedly the best defensive player ever based on his impact during the time he played.

There’s a definite bias to scoring when talking about GOATs, but what he did on the defensive end was worth more than 99% of players scoring. Hell, Red Auerbach broke the mold by drafting him: before, conventional wisdom was that you get your offense from your big men and their defense didn’t matter. Literally changed the game :wow:

Making Jordan the goat is not some declaration of him never failing or not having blemishes. Personally Jordan is goat because of what he had to overcome. Thats speaking on the case for Jordan in hyperbole. But if we speaking on the ebbs and flows here,

Jordan had to over come more than LeBron
Jordan never failed as horribly as LeBron
Jordan won more than LeBron

LeBron stacked the decks and still got owned in series time and time again

If Jordan had players equivalent to Anthony Davis kyrie wade bosh etc he would have reigned terror on the league worst than he did.

Fair argument, so what should the goat case be based on then if it’s not prime peak performance and dominance over competition? Right guy right time applies to Lebron as well

Right guy right time can't apply to someone going from Lakers/Spurs/Big 3 Celtics to Warriors dynasty to deal with. The only way this would apply is if Curry never ascends to a Top 3 player and makes his team the destination for the final Top 3 guy (KD) to go against Bron.

mj was the best of his era

bron is the best of his era

mj has more team success

bron has the better career statline

*
Having an impact on team success weighs heavier than stateline. CP3 is a greater player than Westbrook despite having less stats but a greater impact on winning. Tom Brady is the goat not because of better stats but because of impact on team success. MJ is the greater player than Lebron for same reasons.

i get what you are saying

bulls stayed contenders when mj had to take break though

everytime bron left a squad they went right back to the lottery

bron the biggest golden ticket player of all time

all respect due

How ?

30,6,5 vs 27,7,7

Mikes stats also rose exponentially through the playoffs and finals. :yeshrug: Can’t get better than that

i was counting career totals not averages*
