Many consoles gamers are just kids (and the adults) whose parents will buy what's cheapest at the store to play the 2-4 games they are interested in.

We are enthusiasts, most people will see 300 vs 400 or 500 + and always choose the cheaper option. Then xbox bundles each console with 3 months free of gamepass with parents credit card - easy money.

Kids want what they want. If they want a ps5. Parents either will buy it or not. parents not spending $300 plus on a console their kid didn’t ask for.

I think Sony is planning to come in at $400 - $450 for the disc-less version but knows that Microsoft wants to come it at $500 but will drop to $400 to stay in the game. So Sony wants MS to drop that $500 so they can move in at that $400 price and seal up this generation.
