In reality it's been a layoff bloodbath in tech in general. Covid had companies going on a hiring spree and now they've been cutting jobs all over the place. These layoffs aren't unique to Microsoft.So we gonna pretend 21K+ people don’t have a job right now.

There are a lot of assumptions being made that if this merger didn't happen all these jobs would be safe and that's questionable at best.
Same with Embracer. They been laying off and closing studios left and right. Successful companies not under any sort of distress don't sell to other companies.
There are plenty of studios and publishers not getting bought out because they don't need or want to be.
Bout 6000 people been played off in just the few first weeks of this year nobody gave a shyt.
But of course we all go stupid when microsoft is involved tho.

When Bungie laid off almost 9% of it's workforce some of the people rallying against consolidation I wonder if they were as mad at Sony for that and calling for that merger to be unwound.
