I’m taking units sold.
Getting shytted on by Nintendo and Sony…like always.
And GP isn’t profitable and won’t even be profitable this generation if you factor in Bethesda’s purchase price.
The entire objective of their games division is to drive Game Pass subs not lead in units sold. Everything Sony and Nintendo does flows from selling a unit. Not really the case with Microsoft. Also the company doesn't seem to be concerned with Game Pass being profitable at the moment.

Microsoft and Sony have massively different business models in their gaming divisions.
Imagine Sony putting their exclusive games day one on Steam or having them day one on a subscription service. The fact of the matter is if you want to play a Sony game in any reasonable amount of time or a Nintendo game at all you have to buy their hardware. If you want to play a Microsoft game you don't have to buy their hardware.

There was a 4 year wait for God of War to come to PC. Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 were on Steam day one. If your concern is selling more boxes than someone else you don't take that content and make it available on platforms other than your own day one.

An Xbox Series X/S is just one of many vehicles to get people these games. Microsoft doesn't give two shyts about installed base now. Phil has convinced Satya that the future of Microsoft runs through gaming. They are thinking bigger.

On top of that on an Xbox One you can play Xbox Series games through Game Pass and the cloud. People here keep trying to analyze Microsoft's success through Sony's lens when they're not exactly doing the same thing. That's besides Nintendo who isn't even targeting the same primary customer.
