Also... this is a business lesson. Sony really hasn't had a killer/system selling MP exclusive game (closest would have to data back to SOCOM).
They have been overly dependent on multiplat games along with their brand loyalty and install base to fill that void. MS has always had HUGE cultural MP games since it's existence (Halo and Gears along with everything else that other developers made turned the Xbox into the competitive console of choice). This is kind of like Netflix after they really started gaining momentum. The landscape was changing... and they saw that they were too dependent on licensing IP from other studios and companies. As a result they started investing in content and building out their catalog... now when you scroll through Netflix, SOOOOOO much of it is their own shyt. The old way was not sustainable... Also since they were first to market, even with all the competition that spawned since they came out, Netflix is still the most recognizable one with the most users.
Sony has a great catalog, but they rested on continuing to do what they've been good at opposed to adapting to where the comp is going all in at. They should have had a legit competitive MP game by now that people care about in the eSports lane, or like people cared about Halo and Gears that really carried MS for a decade.
Now you look up, and Sony realizes that they MS is building up competitive advantages that is going to be hard to keep up with. MS is the plug too to much shyt in this space, from development, to software, to cloud services, you can't escape them.
It doesn’t have to be as big, they just need the work force and IP. Adding something like square enix who have a bunch of IP and can put out half a dozen games a year would be a good get, and they have the biggest MMO on the planet right now.
I think square enix is putting out like 5 games this quarter alone. Babylons fall, Chocobo GP, FF Origins, Triangle Strategy, Forspoken, FF7 mobile game, and I’m probably forgetting stuff. That would be a good get output wise not to mention they get all their legacy titles from psx-ps3
Ideally I'd want to buy Take Two, I feel like Sony would remove VC from NBA 2K and make it less of a grind. Man if that happened. NBA 2K WITHOUT having to grind?
I don't care about Rockstar. The OG Rockstar devs left years ago
I have PS5 and thats what I got it for exclusives...who do yall nikkas be talking to just assume everybody is on the same shyt ? And I have a series X and a switch idk about you new nikkas but I GAME and I game HEAVY I play everything I don't box myself in and engage in stupid stan wars I'm a Gamer

We still got The Last of Us 2 Factions coming and that's damn near built from the ground up. The original factions from 2013 is still very popular today. That's a start. We need a Socom, Resistance, Killzone, or better yet a new FPS IP.
Sony is gonna have to start getting more aggressive at this point. Microsoft can still buy another publisher next year and most likely will, the more sony sits out the worse it gets in the long run. They just need to be able to put out more games and they need more studios for that.
What is Sony sitting out from exactly in the long run?
Does Sony really need to be aggressive? I don't see the need for Sony to really buy anything, I never heard no complaints about Sony releasing exclusives, Sony been doing just fine. Does Sony really need to "even the odds" now?

Even EA would be out of their grasp. And EA is a hard one as a lot of their value comes from other big IP licenses it has Star Wars, Madden, FIFA, NHL etc, if anyone brought them it could be argued those game licenses could be open for bidding by the NFL and FIFA which immediately would halve any value you get from them
Them buying Square Enix would be pointless as their games already sell best on Playstation plus Sony has money hatted a ton of games from them. Capcom is a maybe, but I think their happy staying multiplat. WB games faces the same probs, a lot of it’s value is from the IP it has access to if you just get the devs but not the IP, Harry Potters, DC, Mortal Kombat etc it would be not a good deal. I think thats why MS cooled on going after them.
Take Two would be interesting but if they ever came up and wanted to sell. You best believe every other company with massive amounts of cash on hand would outbid Sony. Same issue with Ubisoft.
Sony are in kinda a difficult spot the landscape is changing massively and quickly, I’m surprised they thought they could just make it business as usual thinking moneyhatting games would work again like the old days. You can tell they’ve been surprised at the moves MS have been able to pull off. Even I never thought they’d be ballsy enough for a move like this.
MS is out here buying up whole publishers and taking them off the table, leaving Sony in the dark as to whether any of those games would continue to come to playstation. Then you have Tencent, Amazon and now Netflix looking at companies, which is also why MS are making the moves they are. I’d even say even though they got burned with Stadia, Google will try again.
