its real fukked up out there at times. ive been in a class where it was decided we werent gonna do shyt. we had an english teacher who went on maternity leave...we were generally good students but we just wilded out..went through 3 subs. Were like fukk it, we aint learnin shyt. and would just talk..you can kick out, 1, 2, 3, 4, even 5 students, but you cant kick out an entire class, who you gonna teach? needless to say the ones talking and talking back to the teacher the entire period were fukkin it up for the ones who were tryin to learn.

so it goes both ways. i cant imagine a classroom full of teary eyed teens or preteens just begging to be taught, led by a stonefaced teacher who is like "No." A lot of the time these kids burn the teachers out to the point where they are like "fine, its your future, i've graduated college, I have a job" so they may pass out a packet and thats that.

That headline is such bullsh!t.

That guy would have had to bash his head in daily for a sh!tty Com Arts degree. He already has a 50k+ following on YouTube. I'd bank on that experience before signing up for 4 years of concussion ball.

this is what kills me, people will actually rationalize not going to college

:russ: at 50000 followers, he has 495 subcribers and any idiot can see he is going nowhere in rap

this is why the obamas are right, there are too many people that think like this kid and too many people that dont even get why what this kid did is wrong and stupid

to add an addendum to a previous post http://www.the-coli.com/4262070-post403.html

If we change our thinking and our habits, to not accepting that our kids should be or should want to be ball players or entertainers and to that something more strict then over time that old notion of wanting to be a ball player or entertainer would be gone. there is so much that starts in the home too, like our kids doing homework. im gonna end this before i start to sound like a broken record but, often times it seems like we can assert ourselves on the court, or in the booth, but not in the books.

I'm not saying they are "Teary eyed teens" but like you said y'all were good kids but withouth the guidance of a teacher who actually cared y'all "just wilded out"

Running my program I've mentored kids that were written off by parents and teachers as "bad" or "hopeless" Some of them I've been able to turn around, some i haven't. But the number one answer I get when I ask them why they are acting like they are is "I feel like nobody cares"

Kids need constant structure and guidance from adults. If they didn't they wouldn't be kids and they wouldn't need adults at all. My kids make bad decisions all the time. It's up to me to guide them in the correct direction, if I give up on them I've failed as a parent regardless of what they do/don't achieve in life. And I extend that feeling to the kids in my communty because they are my responsibilty as well.

these were good teachers, we were just bad ass students. we wanted to break their spirit. we knew it wouldnt come in a day. but give us two weeks....we created a cycle.

we had a female sub, after like 3 weeks she just didnt come back, then we had another female sub we made her cry and after 2 weeks she didnt come back, then we had a man he was old school, but we played the 'nobody cares' card. "oh you'll just leave and not come back one day, you dont care, this is just a paycheck". he didnt leave. we got better but we still werent 'good students'

The lack of knowledge of self, miseducation and uninformed parents has ALOT to do with how kids are learning and behaving today.

what you said was true. I was just tellin you that we were just bad for the sake of being bad. We never had a problem with our original english teacher, but when she went on maternity leave, we just acted a fool, went through a couple subs. like i said with the last one we were still acting out, but he didnt leave, and eventually we calmed down, but we werent ever good or cool like we were with our original english teacher.

it was just an odd dynamic, we were making teachers not come back to our class, and our reputation had proceeded us, teachers from other classes asked about 4th period english, and the new subs would say "i heard you guys were bad". we created that cycle of oh they dont care because we would push them away or break their spirit. if they didnt care, they just would have come in sat down and read the paper and let us act up, but they tried and we argued and it wasnt until we got the old school teacher that finally stayed that we started to get back on the right track but then it was the end of the school year,

:stopitslime: you just said you stay out of the hood, now you're all in the hood helping mentoring kids. Yeah right.

As for me I live this, which is why I've been going so hard in this thread.

This Kre-8 Youth Empowerment Project is my orginization. We concentrate on youth empowerment through education and the arts. Maybe yo can sponsor us, or even better you can be a guest speaker.

Thats not in my area. But i'd love to come by.

And no. I don't stay in "the hood"

I would never seek to lower my standards.

I have to give nikkas something to look up to.

Don't tell me you want to overcome race yet let it limit how you live your life.

The old school idea of us working twice as hard as everyone else is not going to fly anymore.

yeah.

Lets just as the government for MORE help.

It can't be that nikkas drop out of entry level Science, Engineering, Tech/Math classes or that you all score at the bottom of every evaluation ever.

It can't be that you all glorify the wrong shyt and can't separate entertainment from reality yet wonder why you're stuck where you are.

It can't be that you don't aspire to work in industries or learn skills that grant you the ability to actually be self-sufficient or control the way of the world.

Outside of prison reform, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

Mass education camps on black culture?

Not gonna happen.

You're 12% thinking you're 30%.

Oh ok...but me telling them to distance themselves from the bullshyt and to stop making excuses for their failure is a bad thing? :stopitslime:

You take excuses. I don't.

Trying hard doesn't even fly with me.

We need results.

No. Tolerance.

Funny:heh:, because I graduated with a Masters from the University of Memphis this past December. Even though I have a college degree; doesn't mean I don't see the institutional laws that oppress the black community.

I grew up in a middle class neighborhood. But I saw how my cousin wasn't fortunate to live in the same environment. And how they were being oppressed everyday. I would see how police were targeting and harassing harmless innocent black people. As I visit my family members in low income areas.

I saw how my white friends would get off on criminal charges. Well as a black person I knew in the low income area would be convicted off. Even with the same criminal background. I was able to see both worlds.
