I dont even watch Hockey, but there isnt another person considered in the same world as Gretzky. its not allowed to say such a thing. And from an individual perspective, the same cant be said for Jordan. Jordan is labeled the GOAT and put over so many others because the run his TEAM had. He is definitely a top tier player on his own, but he can be debated against several different players from an individual perspective

This is a terrible thread for a variety of reasons.
Namely because 1, Michael Jordan doesn't even fit OP's criteria. Wayne Gretzky is far and away the GOATest GOAT in any sport relatively speaking. If he never scored a goal in his career he'd still be the NHL's all time points leader, purely off assists. It's pure dominance. Since assists don't count towards points in basketball the closest statistical equivalent is a player hypothetically missing every FT they ever took and still being the league's all time leading scorer.
But yeah I get it, "lol hockey is a CAC sport."
The second reason this thread is trash though, is because there are several players with the resumes and numbers to be compared to MJ. MJ was just behind a master marketing push in the 90s that anointed him to this god like status where no one will ever top him. The brainwashing is kind of crazy. 12 year olds who haven't even seen Wizards MJ play let alone Bulls MJ play are out here saying, "No one will ever be better than MJ." adamantly. Like some these nikkas are so brainwashed they aren't even repping for the players of their gen. It's kind of crazy. Along with the all around mystique that the 90's was some kind of untouchable golden-age of era and nothing would ever top it because "handchecking." It's all barbershop arguments really.
