I remember my white conservative Marketing professor complaining out Castro and saying how he could have been on a beach smoking cigars, if not for Castro. Of course the revolution didn't benefit him. He also said the people in Cuba are clueless about the world outside the island.

i can tell you from personal experience that you should not be looking for work in an ethnic enclave if you are not of that ethnicity. immigrant communities are not normal communities. they all have an agenda and you dont really fit in it. they need to provide entry level opportunities for all new immigrants while stacking money for longer tenured immigrants to venture out. chances are, you will get the same cold shoulder in chinatown or in minnesota with those somalians.

the white cubans do have a race issue, but that's because they are just cacs with accents. latino is a very broad term that includes people from several ancestries all speaking either spanish or portugese. when you look at many of these cuban exiles, you are often looking at transplanted southern europeans. they were brought here to try to oversee plantations, so they have that white supremacy on the brain. when most people are advocating for immigration reform, they are usually focusing on mestizo or amerindian people. white latinos seem to have fewer problems getting over here legally.

@Dlee954 ... miami is changing breh ....not as racist as past years/decades in my opinion....i live around Haitians in north miami and they're well in this environment ....went out to Hialeah (cuba central) a couple of weeks ago to get some gear during the no tax weekend and didn't feel uncomfortable....Latina chick/cashier in famous shoes commandeered my phone to find a 20% discount for me and saved me a bundle.... was in line in Ross Stores and another Spanish chick was spiting game and gave me the come on, extra hard, but i swore off married women a while back, but s.p. knows what gym she goes to several days a week doe if i wanted dem problems .....back in 04-05 you didn't see any brehs on those 305 construction sites, today brehs are getting that work..... luckily i was able to transfer to my present job from up north so i don't have those job search problems... in my experience south florida latinos appreciate you more if you make an attempt to learn and communicate in espanol even if its limited.... also you know who supports the Heat the most in ticket sales, right?


side note, Miami Cubans got their numbers and political clot from the very powerful Archdiocese of Miami. when a certain church's pews are empty, we get a ton of guests coming across the southern border like what happened this year.

I may not live in Miami, but I know its true from family members who actually live in Southern Florida and visiting Florida many times. Hispanics have a FOOT in South Florida. Heck I'll say more so than Hispanics in LA. Miami is even considered an extension of Latin America and so they believe it belongs to them and no one else.

Don't got a problem with it. We should do the same. Blacks will always be second class citizens in America but, maybe we carve out a place that's solely for us. We'll dominate it economically and politically. Any major city in the South breh. Atlanta, Houston, Charlotte, Raleigh. All have black populations above 40% except Houston. I lived my entire life in Philly, college in Washington DC. Both cities are 50% black. Couldn't imagine being 8 or 10 percent. It's never been my reality. Only difference is the South is much more cheaper than Philly/DC.
