Its like the last frontier of North America. A city the size of New York, maybe even bigger, that nobody in the states rarely travel to or even talk about even though a lot of work from home Americans have took up roots there. At worst Mexico City should've at least been the Toronto of the south. I believe there's a Mexico City thread in TLR.

I thought it was a very popular travel destination. Not to the extent of Cancun though

Let's say they had a team over there. Who from American ball players would love to play there?
The ones who play overseas just try making money cause they're not good enough for NBA.
Let's say you have a family and you have kids and you get traded to this non english speaking country. Hell nah. Like how much extra money you'd have to pay to convince them?

Mexico City wouldn’t be as big of an issue as y’all think.

Poor people in the US can touch any nba player at any time. Ask Paul Pierce. The NBA will have the best security available that money can buy. It’ll be up to the players to use it.

For those talking education education, they will have access to all the top tier schools just like here.

Now to the topic of family life, it’ll be culture shock for some but others will love it and never forget the few years they lived in Mexico City.

Players not wanting to play in certain cities already happens. Think Zac Levine getting drafted by the T wolves or Steve Francis not going to Toronto.

It won’t be as bad as you think. I lived in Japan and Puerto Rico. I know what it’s like to live outside the US.

The cartels have literal armies and trained killers on their payroll. That shyt will be light work.

But I wouldn't really worry about players getting robbed. More likely to see players caught up in extortion. shyt is a recipe for disaster with 100s of millions on the table.

The safety issue is an issue, but the G-League teams get police escorts to and from games and they all live in what's considered the Beverly Hills of Mexico City. If you have a family though, the issue will come with how your child is educated.

The bigger issue is that Mexico City is over 7000 feet above sea level, so some guys can't play in those conditions if they got respiratory issues and even if you don't, the thin air will kick your ass
Why are you spoiler tagging a pod like a game of thrones episode or first week movie :dead:

Popular for those into art. But people are hitting Cancun, puerto vallarta, and Cabo before MX city.

This is almost as stupid and the NFL and their London dreams, tho clearly not as big of a logistical challenge.

Lol @ nikkas missing games because they forgot and drank tap water

My coworker is from Juarez. I understand that the cartel has influence , but you know the cartel ain’t into fukking with their money either. They’ll probably have some sort of stake in the team and move money throughout it but who cares.

Soccer has teams all across Europe in countries where you know there’s some sorta criminal element involved but the league moves on without a hiccup, I assume. I don’t watch soccer so correct me if I’m wrong.

The Nets Russian billionaire probably had some seedy people around him.

If the league is gonna get involved with Mexico City they’ve already thought about the possibilities and have solutions to these problems.

I highly doubt they will put a team in Mexico before Seattle, Vegas, even St. Louis, the dmv probably could get another team before that

It what are the demographics in Mexico City, would that sit well with them want to be white Mexicans to have a team
