I disagree, Kansas and st Louis would be better for a team versus another international team
I definitely feel you and this is no diss to STL or KC but those cities don't do anything for the league that they don't already have now in places like Cleveland, Milwaukee, Minnesota, etc. A team in Mexico City could possibly rake in billions upon billions and have that whole country behind the team.

No player at all wanted to play in Vancouver. Mexico City is the exact same problem and London would be worse.
I think times have changed as opposed to back then. If course a top 15 player in the league wouldn't want to sign there as a free agent and maybe the top 5 in the draft won't want to go there but everybody else might be fair game to go there. Being in the NBA and NFL really really means something now financially and status wise. Vancouver was a huge mystery back in the days before the internet blew up to what it is today. Now travel is easier, passport gang, IG clout, etc. This is a different era. Niccas would play for Anchorage Alaska if they had a team there

You can’t find 28 cities that NBA players want to play in.

It’s much more of an issue than someone playing in OKC, Utah, Sacramento or whatever. Players that do not play in the United States aren’t cared about the same here and not as marketable. Players that care about that will avoid Mexico City, making it a competitive balance issue too. Given the state of the Peso, will they have the fans that want to pay NBA ticket prices game over game year over year? I don’t see the financial windfall that would be there as opposed to Seattle or Vegas where that base is assured given the new NHL teams.

i don't think the whole "who wants to play there" thing works outside of security concerns. all these star international players the league has now, those Eurocacs and Africans by way of Europe aint gonna trip about playing and living in Mexico, i don't think these suburban AAU brehs will care either, MX city has a thriving nightlife, and yes, nice looking women (given the LatAm immigration to MX city and general admixture of the population, they're not the squatty Mexicans people make fun of), but altitude, security and establishing community for a family (older players) are all drawbacks

toronto is colder, costs more and has higher taxes...i don't pay attention to them as a team, but are they run well?

i don't think MX city is realistic, but the shallow reasons people give for players not wanting to go to cities (utah, milwaukee, Memphis, etc) such as night life and women, and "things to do" aint an issue in MX city. and they'll pocket more of their salary and live waaaaaay better for waaay less, like rookie min salary nikkas would be livin a life they never would in MIA, LA, NY, DC, Chi

That big super star free agent signing is damn near over with. We still waiting on Kawhi to get right. KD to Brooklyn has been a mess. Giannis didn't leave Milwaukee. Bron on the Lakers has fallen on hard times. Utah is improved after trading Donovan & Gobert. It's mostly about trades and developing draft picks now

Popular for those into art. But people are hitting Cancun, puerto vallarta, and Cabo before MX city.

This is almost as stupid and the NFL and their London dreams, tho clearly not as big of a logistical challenge.

Lol @ nikkas missing games because they forgot and drank tap water

Even the street food there can give you food poisoning if you're not used to it

This is kind of a short sighted view IMO.

Mexico is largely untapped when it comes to basketball talent. You're saying nobody would want to play there, but all it takes is some luck in a draft and the team there getting a great talent and it could impact the entire country's interest in the sport. Toronto and Canada as a whole are not producing as much talent if not for legit star caliber players like Vince Carter, T-Mac and DeRozan.

It would take 1 guy to understand that, see it as a challenge and embracing it and who knows what happens after that.

:wow:

20 years later, we gonna have Mexicans getting drafted in the lottery
