It is annoying that you very often get random attacks, by bosses no less, and you have no idea that it's about to happen so you don't even know what sort of squad you want to have set up for it. It'd be one thing if you could switch classes on the fly. As is tho, I often still figure out a way to use whatever I have available to fight them well enough, at least so far.

Yup, especially if you aren't really paying attention on the gauntlet runner and something pops off

Especially if you don't know the enemy weakness and mess up and hit something they block? :mjcry:

I started using the L3/Restart fight feature in those cases.

Yeah, the restart feature seems to be a necessity for this game for that reason. I do feel like it's somewhat balanced enough most of the time, that if you're properly leveled and utilize their classes functions properly enough, you can win most fights without having to outright brute force them (albeit sometimes it feels like you have to do that).

But there's definitely some team set ups that make specific fights considerably easier than others or vice versa. With the wrong set up, 1 mistake can pretty much mean certain death and sometimes luck is a part of winning or losing some fights with the unoptimal set up as well, which is annoying since you can't adjust on the fly and sometimes, it's just better use of your time to just reload just before the surprise fight and change your set up based on what you gathered the enemies weaknesses are.

Im still not really sure how to see what your synergy skills are with what combinations before battle

Is there a separate list somewhere?

It’s in the character view when looking at their skills. You gotta go a couple tabs over and at the bottom it’ll show what other classes they need on the field for each move

It lowkey shows you the other unlockable class trees lol

Yeah, was just about to answer with this. But this too is a bit of an annoying implementation, all things considering what I said earlier. Everytime this surprise battles hit or I change up squads and then don't fight for a while (cuz there's plenty of these lore/character builing moments just like persona that keep you outta fights for a considerably long time sometimes), I end up forgetting what classes gel together for the appropriate tag team attacks and it fukks up my stategy every time.

A lot of the game is about prep time, which is cool, but annoying at the same time. At the very least, games like this, you should be able to have some adjustable load outs that you can change to on the fly, if you can't outright change to all your classes on the fly. That'd make that part a lot more tolerable, but Atlus apparently didn't build up their tolerance stat enough before finishing this game. Design choice be damned.
