This is the coli where people talk up self-employment but when someone actually starts on that road naysayers appear:jbhmm:

It's very difficult to make that switch. People generally want security and self employment does not provide that in the early stages. People are also lazy, they're afraid to fail and also some just don't have that business mind.

This is a very foolish thing to say. Yes, people start over all the time, but is it of their own choosing or did circumstances force them into it?

The point here being do all u can to make sure you’re self sufficient. U don’t want to be in a position where u have to start over. It’s never convenient. Stop responding to this thread because ur advice is terrible.

I know alot of people that started(or started over) way later in life. We'll just agree to disagree.

My mom a Nigerian immigrant got her nursing degree at the age of 40 in 2000. Right now she makes $90,000. Age being a hindrance is kinda exaggerated

:ufdup:Age discrimination is real as fukk.

Corporate and IT Jobs are not out here hiring 38 y.o nikkas for Entry or mid level jobs.

I know so many old dudes 40+ who got IT certs and can't do shyt with it.

Th problem is they don't have enough knowledge or experience for senior level jobs and they aren't young enough for entry level positions.

I know a dude teaching IT classes. full of Old and young people - the people who were getting offers off the back were between ages 23-35.

Also alot IT jobs are starting to require a bachelors or 8 years of experience.

If i were to change careers Id just lie on my resume.:ehh:
I want to switch to IT. Im 28 now.

What are the requirements?

real talk. I work at one of the big tech companies in silicon valley. Older brehs (30+) get hired for junior positions all the time. so long as you have the will and determination then you golden

I work in IT but there's always certifications and stuff. I'm already down the rabbit hole with this industry. If anything I could go back to school for Data Science or maybe get something to help me get into Management in the future, but at 34 I have more responsibilities to think about and those will incur a financial burden as well.

I could imagine how hard it is at my age to switch careers entirely.

I knew I was fukking up when I saw 22 year olds getting office jobs earning 60+ k a year and traveling for business. :wow:

I was doing cleaning work at some corporate offices earlier this year

I'm 22 cleaning offices for $10.00 an hour while there were 22 year old recent college grads in the offices making 50k+ a year

The ether burned my soul everytime I went to work :mjcry:

good food for thought....there are exceptions i'm sure but we should always be striving to do more, learn more, earn more, be more....etc no matter what the age and with some good breaks in between

:mjlol:alot of yall african nikkas keeps saying "my mom nursing my mom nursing" obviously the topic is talking about men.

As men age, responsibility increases many men dont have that option. i know shyt ton of African women who earned degrees in nursing while husbands supported them, some even divorced their husbands when they started making more bank.

RARELY have i ever seen an old nikka get a corporate job without any experience, without putting in extra work. If it were that easy there wouldnt be a shyt ton of over qualified immigrant nikkas driving cabs, working in gas stations, security or care givers. :comeon:
