That Dominique Foxworth video posted early in the thread does a much better breakdown. It's a combo of factors that's giving offenses fits. Teams are doing a much better job of disguising coverages or switching their bases right before the snap. That causes QBs to now have to read the defense post-snap instead of pre-snap. Add in bad offensive lines and that leaves a much tighter window for the QB to be able to make a read and pick apart that defense. Plus there are different variations of 2 deep zones so people just saying throw it to a certain area are wrong as well. QB has to read if they are passing off coverages within the zone or playing a hard zone. Some fake man coverage or press coverage before settling into their zones. Pre snap movement by the offense will help expose some of that but that'll be hard for some QBs, especially as the D fakes blitzes and they have to make the line adjustments on top of reading the D.

I'm actually curious if we see more teams run hurry up more often to make it harder for defenses to be as cute with the pre-snap shifting and force the Ds to be in more of a consistent base package.
I don’t think the hurry up will matter much tbh because the teams the vast majority of the time aren’t even doing anything special

Yea I fukked up not including Foxworth analysis first. Cause its easy to dismiss Mel, but if these defenses stalling some of the more prolific passers in the league (relatively) in Mahomes/Burrow/Herbert then these other QBs are food. Probably a big reason the Chargers are thriving just running the ball in 12 and 13 personnel though.

I also noticed the Bears going no huddle last game to try and help Caleb w/his bad Oline. It didn't work, but the few possession that did it helped him get in some groove.

The Florida Gators beat one of the greatest college football offenses of all time (2008 Oklahoma), and they played with a single high safety.

The game evolves. Tell them to bring running backs back to prominence and the 2 high safety will lessen. You want a league where QBs pass on 3rd and 2 amd this is what you get. Pass, pass, pass

Weak take.

I was about to ask, who the hell is running 13 personnel in the NFL. Lol. But then I remembered Harbaugh is there now.
He loves that jumbo set.

It was successful at Stanford, the 49ers,Michigan. Everywhere he goes.

These QB's they paying 50 to 60 million a year continue to look like ass they going to take the safeties off the field and make the defense play 9 on 11 :mjlol:
Between the money QBs are making & the fact that the NFL is in with gambling/fantasy football. Something is going to have to change. I ain't saying 2 High safeties. Maybe its more offseason practice. However, NFL is hoping like hell offenses figure it out.
