Teams went too far with that analytic ball nonsense .

1.Draft the pass blocking lineman as a priority even though he can’t run block to save his life

2) Don’t draft RBs early ..the line makes all the difference (see point #1 to see why that’s stupid)

3) Turn TEs to jumbo WRs

4) Hire all these genius young OCs who think the nfl is 7 on 7.

5) Throw these young QBs in the fire quick ..then toss em when they struggle .

First, it’s a dumbass take and anybody who has watched football as he claims to should be slapped for saying something like that. The underlying thing he’s saying is casual fans don’t like smart football that isn’t flashy. If you want flashy plays all the time go watch CFB.

Seriously, to me it’s boring when there’s no balance and high powered offenses become a dime a dozen. NBA currently has that problem with the offenses being worlds ahead of the defenses and rules being implemented to further hog tie defenders.

Everything is about numbers and consumerism and sell sell sell sell sell. Makes me want to fukkin gag brehs, just balance shyt out.

I see a lot of criticism for the bad offensive line play, but no one calls out the terrible blocking schemes.

For example, Daboll loves to pull the center and half slide in pass pro, instead of keeping the TE home. If they used more 7-man protection schemes, they would have more time for the QB to throw. If they used more h-back and attached TE formations, the safeties would have to come into the box for run-fit responsibilities.

Counterpoint would be you shouldn’t need a 7 man protection first off and secondly 7 man protection puts you at a disadvantage numbers go in the defense’s favor

The lines are unbalanced now. DL are monsters. Only slightly smaller than OL but faster and more athletic.

Lack of running the ball has taken the mean out of these OL too.

Defense ALWAYS catches up to offense.

The NFL had a unique situation with the Gen X and 80s Baby Millenial QBs (Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Manning x 2, Russ, Big Ben, Rivers, Romo etc).

Brehs born in the 70s and 80s came up when running the ball was still important and defenses could rough you up (high school, college etc). NFL adjusted the rules to help Peyton against Belichick's defense AND THEN adjusted defensive contact rules to help Brady after his season was ended in 2008. It's like playing Madden on All-Pro your whole life and then switching back to Rookie or Pro. The passing game took off because these guys didn't have to worry about shyt anymore, relatively speaking.

The new generation has only played under the offense-friendly rules so there's no artificial boost. Defenders of this generation have only played under these rules so its second nature for them. Defense has narrowed the gap and there's no way you can make offense any easier than it already is without fukking up the product.

1 v1 blocking or a rb responsible for blocking today's EDGE players are already putting offenses at a disadvantage against 6 man pressures.

It makes more sense to use 7 man pro in 3rd and long than going to an empty set. Too many OCs in the game today think they're playing Madden on grass instead of practicing sound football theory.
